We're thrilled to announce our latest update to KaiNexus. This release is packed with features designed to enhance your project management experience, organize and visualize Items more efficiently, enhance reporting capabilities, and more!
Release Highlights
Redesigned Item submission screen
We’ve completely redesigned the success message you see after submitting an Item. This new design is more user-friendly and stays visible until you dismiss it, ensuring you never miss a confirmation.
Quick start while searching for Items
When you go to “All Items,” the platform will no longer automatically load a complete list of every Item you can view. Instead, you’ll see a prompt to apply a filter before displaying results. This speeds up the process by skipping the initial load and helps you quickly search for the Items you’re interested in.
Due Date Syncing brings ease to project management
You can now use Due Date Syncing to automate the process of matching due dates between parent and child Items. This feature ensures that when a due date changes on a child Item, it can update the parent Item or vice versa, reducing the number of clicks needed to keep dates aligned.
Visualize Items in Hierarchy View
We are introducing a new visualization option for Items: Hierarchy View. This view combines the simplicity of Detail View with Tree View’s power to display Items’ parent-child relationships, creating a brand new way to manage your improvement work visually.
Update to AdHoc Fields
You can now place Person and Location Attributes in AdHoc Fields, giving you more flexibility during Template configuration. Contact your Customer Success Manager to upgrade your AdHoc fields.
All Enhancements
Items
- We redesigned the success message you receive after submitting an item. This new design is more user-friendly and stays visible until you dismiss it, ensuring you never miss a confirmation.
- You can now remove the Like and Acknowledge options from a Template, giving you greater control over which features suit your work.
- When you can’t change an Item's Status, your mouse icon will stay the same when you hover over the Status label, making it clear that no updates can be made.
Dates
- Templates can now be configured to auto-populate today’s date as the Due Date. Contact your Customer Success Manager to take advantage of this feature.
- You can now use Due Date Syncing to automate the process of matching due dates between parent and child Items. This feature ensures that when a due date changes on a child Item, it can update the parent Item or vice versa, reducing the number of clicks needed to keep dates aligned.
Lists
- We are introducing a new way to visualize Items: Hierarchy View. This new view combines the simplicity of Detail View with Tree View’s power to view Items’ parent-child relationships.
- When you go to “All Items,” the platform will no longer automatically load a full list of every Item you can view. Instead, you’ll see a prompt to apply a filter before displaying results. This speeds up the process by skipping the initial load and helps you quickly search for the Items you’re interested in.
- You now have the option to hide the Status bar on Nested Item Lists.
- We added the ability to customize which Item Details appear on Nested Item Lists in Detail and Kanban View.
- Organizations with the Advanced ROI Module can now add Custom Impact Columns to Nested Item Lists.
- We improved the error handling of Item Lists so that you receive an error message when an Item List fails to load.
Filter
- Have you ever wanted to find Items you have—or haven’t—engaged with? You can now filter for Items where you’ve posted a comment. Find this new option within the “Additional” criteria in the Item Filter.
- You can now filter for Items with a Fishbone Diagram. Find this new option within the “Additional” criteria in the Item Filter.
- We added a new filtering capability to X-Matrices to make them more dynamic. When adding a “Location” rule within the X-Matrix quadrant filters, you'll see a new checkbox option called “Use Board Location Filter.” Checking this will automatically apply the Board's selected Location to the filter.
Fields and Attributes
- You can now archive and delete User Attributes in bulk, simplifying the management of your organization’s Titles, Positions, Certifications, and Employment Statuses.
- AdHoc Fields now support Location and Person Attributes.
- We increased the limit for the number of Attributes you can select on Attribute reports.
Weighted Scores
- It is now possible to exclude certain values from Weighted Score calculations, giving you more flexibility while designing Templates. For example, this improvement allows you to ensure "NA" (Not Applicable) responses are not included in your overall audit score calculations.
Resolution
- You can now set a default Amount Type for each of your Impact Types. Previously, the default was always “One-Time.” If your users more often use a different option, such as "Recurring," you can streamline their experience by defaulting to that selection.
Reports
- You can now track Investment data in Impact Over Time Reports. This feature allows you to compare your Investments with the resulting Impact for each time interval, offering a more comprehensive understanding of your initiatives' success.
- We improved the error handling of Reports so that you receive an error message when a Report fails to load.
- If your organization does not have the Milestones Module, you’ll no longer see the Cycle Time by Milestone Report as a report option.
Admin
- We added a search field to more administration pages to make finding what you’re looking for easier than ever. You can now search through Login Notices and admin pages for specific values, such as Time Savings People.
Roles
- The next time you create or edit a System Role, you'll notice that you can assign them icons and colors. Adding icons to Roles will improve visual management, especially if your organization has many Roles.
Boards
- When you click on a Board link from a Widget or Freestyle Card, the app will no longer need to refresh. You’ll be redirected to your Board in a seamless experience.
- If you rename the label for Product and Resources, the custom terminology will now be respected on column titles in PDF exports.
- When you print an Item, you can increase the height of nested Item Lists in the PDF. Previously, the checkbox controlling this option was unclear, so we renamed it “Expand Item Lists” to clarify its function.
Milestones
- You can now bulk change Milestone Status, which will help you update the status of many Milestones simultaneously.
Charts
- You can now define the width of a bowling chart’s “Measure” column at the Template level, which helps to standardize charts across your organization. This standardization will specifically be beneficial when viewing a list of bowling charts.
Performance
- We implemented a series of performance improvements throughout the platform to improve your experience and decrease load times.

- Nested Item Lists will no longer respect your organization’s default density settings to prevent it from overriding Template-specific settings.
- We fixed a bug causing the JSON Item API to pull incorrect IDs for certain Fields and Attribute Values.
