Teams

What is a Team?

A Team is a group of Users with designated Team Roles who collaborate together on an Item.

There are four types of Teams in KaiNexus—Simple Team, Standard Team, Advanced Team, and Author-Only Team—each designed to give you unique but complementary approaches to your improvement work. The type of Team working on an Item is set at the Template level.

What are Team Roles?

Each Team Type has a unique set of Team Roles. A User's Team Role determines what the User can do with the Item and also controls what notifications they'll receive about that Item.

Responsible The Responsible is the User who has been made responsible for working on the Item.
Assigner The Assigner is the User who has assigned the Item to someone. They may be required to approve the Resolution before the Item can be completed.

   Author

The Author is the person (or people) who originally came up with the Item, created it in KaiNexus, and/or are responsible for keeping it up to date.
Collaborator A Collaborator is someone who contributes to the success of an Item, even if they aren't primarily responsible for it.
Sponsor A Sponsor is usually a senior leader who provides guidance, support, and direction and is the champion of the Item.
Facilitator The Facilitator is in charge of leading and executing the project. Typically, there are a limited number of Facilitators per Item.
Leader The Leader is a position that will often be used in larger projects to lead small teams within the Item.
Participant Participants are responsible for contributing to the overall Item objectives and team deliverables.
Participating Location Adding a Participating Location will allow every User in that Location to take part in the Item. Each User in the Participating Location will have the same Team Role permissions as a regular Participant, but will not receive additional notifications about the Item.
Follower Followers have no formal responsibility for the Item but they are kept in the loop and notified about any activity associated with it. It is helpful to follow an Item if you are interested in it and want to know how it’s progressing.

Two Line OfiePRO TIP: Your organization can customize its own Team Role names. For example, you can choose to refer to an Advanced Team's “Facilitators” as "Owners" instead. This type of name change will affect all Templates with that Team type. Reach out to your Customer Experience Lead to take advantage of this feature.
