December 6th, 2024
As 2024 comes to a close, we’re excited to bring you a release packed with new features to help you finish the year strong. Whether you're seeking enhanced reporting, greater customization, or fresh ways to track achievements, this update will set you up for success in 2025. Let’s take a look at what’s new!
Release Highlights
Enhanced Cycle Time Reporting
We’ve overhauled how we calculate cycle time to provide more accurate and insightful data. Previously, cycle time reporting relied on rough estimates from daily snapshots, limiting its ability to capture precise status transitions. With the addition of Status History logs for every Item, Cycle Time Reports will be more accurate and robust than ever.
Track the time Items spend in any Status
Item Lists have two new column options that show how long Items have been in a specific status, providing deeper insights into bottlenecks and helping you identify Items that may need attention. Add the “Days in Status” or “Days in Current Status” column to a list to get started.
Filter for Upcoming Items
New options in the Item Filter allow you to dynamically filter for upcoming Items by setting date ranges in the future.
Introducing People Goals
In addition to Impact and Item Goals, you can now set People Goals for your organization. These Goals help you track the number or percentage of users meeting specific criteria. You can set targets for how many people have submitted an idea or the percentage of users with a specific Badge–the options are endless.
All Enhancements
Status History
- To enhance cycle time reporting, Items now include a detailed Status History that tracks when they enter and exit each Status. Administrators can even edit the history to ensure you always have accurate reporting data. Tracking starts with this release, so only status transitions on or after December 6th, 2024, will be automatically captured in the Status History.
- You can now filter for Items based on time spent in a certain Status. Check out the new “Status History” criteria in the Item Filter to get started.
- We have two new columns to help you visualize an Item’s Status History in an Item List: “Days in Status” and “Days in Current Status.” Use these columns to visualize the time Items spent in certain statuses.
Item Dates
- Gain more control over Due Dates with our new batch of Template enhancements. You can now restrict Due Date editing to specific Team Roles, require Due Dates for Items with an Advanced and Author-Only Team, and require a reason for all Due Date changes. Contact your Customer Success Manager to get started.
- We are introducing the ability to restrict Item Dates so that the Created, Start, and Due Dates cannot overlap, leading to more accurate cycle time reporting. For example, this functionality prevents the Start Date from being before the Created Date and the Due Date from being before the Start Date.
Templates
- Simplify the planning process by customizing a Template’s “Start on” selection. You can set the most commonly used option–Decide Later, Specific Date, or Dependent On—as the default or hide unnecessary options to make planning Items easier for your users.
- Enhance data privacy with our new feature: Private Fields. You can now restrict access to specific information on Items, ensuring only designated users or roles can view sensitive fields.
- You now have the power to decide which Team Roles should automatically update an Item’s Responsible Location. When you assign a user to your specified role, the Responsible Location will auto-populate with their Network Location.
- In addition to archiving Templates, you can now delete them. Contact your Customer Success Manager if you’d like to learn more.
- We've made Team Role configuration even more customizable for Templates. You can now choose which roles are single or multi-select, control which are shown or required at different stages of the Item lifecycle, and even change the order in which they appear. This gives you the flexibility to tailor teams to match the unique needs of each workflow.
- We can now restore a previously removed Field to a Template while keeping the existing data intact.
- We improved the experience of submitting Items in Statuses other than New while the Status and Team sections of the Create Screen are hidden, ensuring this process always runs smoothly.
Fields and Attributes
- We added the Location Search functionality to Location Attributes in Ad Hoc Fields.
- We enhanced Field and Attribute Syncing so that the syncing works while updating Fields and Attributes on the Complete screen.
- When a Field is removed from a Template, values for that Field will also be removed the next time the Item is updated.
Filter
- You now have more filtering options for Item Dates. In the Item Filter, there are new options for the start and end of your date range, allowing you to dynamically filter for upcoming Items rather than only being able to look in the past.
- We improved Realized Date filtering to ensure that the correct impacts are consistently captured within your specified date range.
- When you filter a Board by Impact Location using the Location Filter, it will display only Impact data tagged with your selected Location. Previously, Boards would display all Impact data from an Item as long as one of its Impacts was tagged with that Location.
Lists
- Gantt View Lists now remember their expanded or collapsed state as you open and close Items, ensuring you won’t lose your place while working through large lists.
- Introducing two new column options for your Item Lists: Originating and Responsible Location Roll-Up. These columns show the Locations above an Item's direct Location, giving you a clearer view of which divisions in your Network an Item is associated with.
- Custom Impact Columns can now display Investment data, empowering you to share key investment information in an Item List.
Boards and Cards
- You can now use Impact Attribute Quick Filters to filter Impact data on Bowling View Reports.
- You can now turn off auto-refresh on Item List Cards, saving time by preventing the Card from reloading each time you edit an Item. This is especially helpful for large Item Lists that take a while to load.
Widgets
- You can now customize which columns appear on People Count Widget lists, ensuring you can easily access relevant information when clicking on the widget.
Goals
- In addition to Item and Impact Goals, you can now set People Goals for your organization. Two new Goal Types–People Count and People Percentage–will help you track the number or percent of people in your organization that meet your custom criteria. After setting Goals for specific Locations, you can easily track progress using the eye-catching Goal Widget.
Reports
- Cycle Time Reports are getting a major upgrade. Powered by our new Status History feature, Cycle Time Reports will be more accurate and insightful than ever. Previously, these reports relied on rough time estimates from daily snapshots, limiting their ability to capture precise status transition times. Starting with this release on December 6th, 2024, the old data will be replaced with more accurate information. Even better, Cycle Time Reports now support Custom Statuses and allow you to click on data points to generate a list of Items contributing to the metric, helping you quickly identify outliers and take action.
- The Impact Summary report now includes Product and Resource Impacts in ROI calculations, ensuring hard savings are calculated the same everywhere in the platform.
- When you open a list from an Impact Summary, Impact Over Time, or Impact Leaderboard Report, there will be a Custom Impact Column displaying the precise data contributing to that metric.
Standard Work
- Deleting a Standard Work Group will now also delete the Items within it, ensuring unneeded data doesn’t disrupt the platform.
Admin
- Organizations can now set default columns for People Lists, just like for Item Lists. All new People Lists will respect your custom settings, providing uniformity and saving time editing columns.
Chart
- Multi Chart Import processing has been improved for better performance.
- Updates made through the Multi Chart Importer will now generate timeline entries on Chart Items.
XLSX
- We enhanced Item List exports to XLSX. If a field exceeds the maximum character limit, the value will be automatically truncated, allowing the export to complete successfully.
- You can now export Item Lists to XLSX in a single combined sheet instead of having each Template on a separate sheet.
Bug Fixes
- The “Areas Referenced” column on the Network administration page will now display data for all Locations, not just the top-level Locations.
