KaiNexus 3.3.1 Release Notes
March 28th, 2026
Release Highlights
Enhancements to Recur functionality
Recur now gives you more control over scheduling with extra frequency options, dynamically updating Due Dates, and configurable recurrence schedules, making it easier for you to manage both simple routines and complex recurring tasks.
Upgraded Card Stacks
Card Stacks now feature a modern carousel design with navigation dots, making it easier for you to see and switch between Cards. We’ve also improved the overall experience by adding Card Type icons for easier identification, ensuring maximized Card Stacks respect visibility settings, and keeping your place when you change the view on a Card in the Stack.
Cards can now ignore Board filters
You can now configure individual Item List, People List, Report, Activity Feed, and Widget Cards to ignore Board-level filters, keeping some Cards static while others update automatically with your Board’s filters.
Additional Options for Card Visibility
You can now control Card visibility based on a user’s Location, Role, Persona, or specific Board filters, making Boards more dynamic and ensuring the right people see the right information.
Capacity View for Item Lists
This new Item List View displays Items alongside their commitment schedules, making it easier for project managers to track and manage commitments across multiple Items. Available for organizations with the Capacity Planning Module.
All Improvements
Admin
- Expanded Admin Timeline coverage. The Admin Timeline now tracks the creation, archiving, and deletion of Templates and Custom Badges, giving clearer visibility into changes in key areas of the platform.
API
- Set Weighted Attribute values to null via API. The JSON Attribute Value API now allows Weighted Attribute values to be set to null, expanding your options when managing them programmatically.
Badges
- New activity options for Badges. Custom Badges can now be automatically awarded when a user submits a Resolution or completes an Item, making recognition more flexible and streamlined.
Boards
- New column options in Manage Boards. You can now add several additional columns in the Manage Boards window, making it easier for system admins to organize and maintain Boards.
- Default presentation includes all Cards. When a Board’s default Present settings don’t include any Cards, selecting the default now automatically includes all Cards, ensuring the presentation never appears empty.
- Easier Board refreshing. The "Refresh Board" option is now always visible in the Board header, rather than only in the Actions menu, making it more convenient to refresh all Cards on your Board.
- Unified Navigation Bar menus. Board drop-downs in the Navigation Bar now include ellipsis icons for common quick actions, making tasks like pinning or setting a Board as default easier. Items and People drop-downs in the Navigation Bar have also been updated to match, creating a consistent look and experience.
- Prevent incorrect Board Editor assignments. Only users with the “Board Creator” permission can now be assigned as Board Editors, ensuring that only eligible users are selectable.
- Non-intrusive copy confirmation. Copying a Card to another Board now shows a subtle success message instead of a modal, creating a smoother and less disruptive workflow.
- Improved bulk Board assignment. When bulk changing users’ Default Board, you can now select any Board you have access to, including those not shown in your personal Boards dropdown.
Capacity Planning
- Quick access to user capacity. Clicking a user’s capacity bar in a People List now opens the Capacity tab in their User Profile, allowing faster viewing and editing of commitments.
- Set commitments without Assign permission. Users in the Responsible Role can now manage their own capacity commitments without needing the Assign permission, making it easier for frontline users to update their workload.
- New Capacity View for Item Lists. View Items alongside their commitment schedules in Item Lists, making it easier for project managers to track and manage commitments across multiple Items.
Cards
- Always show header icons. A new global setting lets you keep header icons visible on Cards and Item Panels, making actions like maximizing easier to find without hovering.
- Updated header icons. Icons on Card and Item Panel headers have been refreshed and now include tooltips, improving consistency and making actions easier to understand across the platform.
- Easier way to expand or collapse Cards. You can now click anywhere on a Card header to expand or collapse it.
- Boards remember Card state. Boards now remember which Cards were expanded or collapsed the last time you looked at them, so your layout stays the same when you return.
- Streamlined Card menus. Card menu options have been cleaned up and terminology aligned across Card Types, creating a more unified and intuitive experience when managing Cards.
- Cards can now ignore Board filters. Item List, People List, Report, Activity Feed, and Widget Cards can now be set to ignore Board-level filters, allowing certain Cards to remain static while others respond to the Board’s filters.
- Read-only view of Item Filters. Users who can’t edit an Item List Card can now click the Item Filter icon in the Card’s header to see a read-only preview of applied filters, replacing the old tooltip with a clearer, more accessible view.
- Updated Card Stack design. Card Stacks now use a carousel style with navigation dots, making it easier for users to see and switch between multiple Cards in a Stack.
- Smoother experience with Card Stacks. Changing the View Type on a Stacked Card now keeps that Card active instead of returning to the first Card, making navigation and management of Card Stacks easier.
- Card Type icons in Stack dropdown. The dropdown menu on a Card Stack now shows an icon for each Card, making it easier to identify the type of each Card in the Stack.
- Maximized Card Stacks respect Board filters. When a Card Stack is maximized, the dropdown now shows only Cards that meet the Board’s active filters, hiding any that are currently filtered out.
- New options for Card visibility. You can now control Card visibility based on a user’s Location, Role, Persona, or specific Board filters, making Boards more dynamic and ensuring the right people see the right information.
Filter
- Improved Quick Filter usability. Quick Filter drop-downs now display selected criteria at the top, making it easier to identify which filters are active.
Goals
Imports and Exports
- Relabeled column on User Exports. The Status column in exported User Lists is now labeled User Type, matching the platform's terminology.
- Filter by User Import ID. People Lists can now be filtered to show users imported or updated during a specific import, making it easier to track changes.
Items
- Enhanced Recur feature. The Recur feature now offers more flexible scheduling with additional frequency options, dynamically updating Due Dates, and configurable recurrence schedules, giving you greater control for both simple and complex use cases.
Lists
- Filter and display License Types in Lists. People Lists can now be filtered by License Type and show it as a column, helping admins manage and track licenses across the organization. Reports
- New report: User License Counts Over Time. Track license usage across your organization and monitor trends to stay within your allocated limits. Learn more about the Report here.
Roles
- Roles now display License Type. The create and edit screens for System Roles have been updated to show each Role’s License Type, with a more organized layout and clearer permission names, making it easier to see which permissions belong to each License Type.
- More granular assignment permissions. The Assign System Role permission has been split into two, allowing you to control which Items a user can assign and who they can assign them to.
- Dedicated permission for sharing Boards. Sharing Boards now requires its own System Role Permission, giving you more precise control over who can share Boards and where.
Statuses
- Fixed issue reopening Items with Milestones. When you reopen an Item with a Milestone blocking Active Status, it will reopen in New Status, preventing errors that previously occurred in this scenario.
Templates
- Edit and assign nested Items from parent. A new Template Configuration option lets team members on a parent Item edit and assign all viewable nested Items, enabling users to manage their work without extra System Role permissions.
Translation
- Expanded translation support. More areas of the platform, including much of the Item Work Panel, now support translation.
User Profile
- User Profiles show License Type. Creating or editing a User Profile now displays the License Type based on the user’s System Role. The layout has been streamlined, and the “General” User Type has been renamed “Active” for clarity.
