KaiNexus 3.3.4 Release Notes
August 22, 2026
Release Highlights
Bring AI directly into your workflow
Smart Create, Checkpoints, and Nudges offer AI assistance at key moments, helping you draft Items faster, get guidance as work progresses, and surface the right Insights without having to go looking for them.
These features require KaiNexus Intelligence (Beta).
Smarter, More Organized Goals
Goal management is easier than ever. Organize related Goals into folders, let Location & Below Goals calculate automatically instead of manually entering rollups, and see Goal Widget metrics automatically aggregate when multiple Locations are selected on a Board.
A Cleaner Look for Goal Widgets
Goal Widgets now have a cleaner, more streamlined design that makes information easier to scan. People Percentage Goal Widgets also let you drill into the numbers to see which users met the goal, didn’t meet it, or are included in the total.
Easier Admin and Template Management
Managing your Admin settings and Templates is now more streamlined. The Admin section has a cleaner layout and a new search box to help you find settings faster, while the Templates page now lets you view and make certain changes to a Template’s Fields, Attributes, and Milestones, putting more control directly in your hands.
Archive Boards You’ve Outgrown
You can now archive Boards to remove them from navigation while keeping them searchable and available to restore later. Archived Boards can’t be edited, and subscription emails are paused.
One Filter for Every Date Type
A new Date Quick Filter lets you choose which date type to filter by, such as Completed, Start, or Due, from a single filter, giving you more flexibility without adding clutter. The Item Filter also now supports the same Date criteria when building rules.
API Support for File Attachments
Retrieve file metadata with the JSON Item API, or use the new itemFile API endpoint to download and upload files on existing Items.
All Improvements
Admin
- Streamlined Admin Screen Layout. A new search box lets you jump straight to the Admin area you need, with collapsible sections and a cleaner layout so you spend less time hunting for settings.
API
- Reuse Old Service Account Names. When you delete a Service Account, its name is freed up right away, so you can reuse it for a new account.
- Look Up Users the Easy Way. Reference people by username instead of KaiNexus ID in the People API, and use a new safeguard to prevent accidental user creation.
- Manage File Attachments via the API. Retrieve file metadata with the JSON Item API, or use the new itemFile API endpoint to download and upload files on existing Items.
Assessments (Beta)
- Group Assessment Fields Into Sections. Organize related Assessment Fields under titled, colored headers to make Assessments easier to scan at a glance.
- Create Nested Items from Assessment Fields. Design Assessments so that selecting a specific value in an Assessment Field prompts users to create a nested Item, helping ensure the right actions result from each Assessment.
Attribute
- File Field Notes on Attributes. Attribute notes can now use a File Field instead of free text, prompting users to attach a file when they select a specific Attribute Value.
Boards
- Get Hidden Boards Back in Action. The Unhide option now always appears in a hidden Board’s Actions menu, regardless of the user’s System Role permissions.
- Keep Board Ownership in the Right Hands. Only users with Board Creator permission can now be set as a Board Owner.
- Archive Boards Instead of Deleting Them. You can now archive Boards to remove them from navigation while keeping them searchable and available to restore later. Archived Boards can’t be edited or have new Cards added, and subscription emails are paused.
- Get Accurate Board View Counts. Views from impersonation sessions no longer count toward a Board's view and user metrics in Manage Boards.
Charts
- See Who Updated a Chart. Every version in a Chart's History now shows who saved it, so you always know who to ask about a change.
- Charts Resize with Their Panel. When you adjust a Chart Panel’s size, the Chart now scales with it, making better use of the available space.
- Copy a Chart Without the Old Data. When copying a Chart, you can now leave existing data rows and annotations behind while keeping the Data Series and Row Type, so your new Chart starts clean.
- No More Blank Rows When Editing Charts. Editing a Chart with existing data rows no longer automatically adds a blank row to the bottom of the data table.
- Convert Items to Chart-Enabled Templates. You can now convert Items between Chart-enabled Templates, or convert Items from a standard Template to a Chart-enabled Template.
- More options for Visible Date Ranges on Charts. Choose Custom Range or relative dates, such as Start of Last Week or Next Quarter, when setting a Chart’s visible date range.
- See Where a Chart Series Is Shared. Data Series that are shared to other Charts now have an icon identifying them as shared, showing how many Charts use the Series and providing quick access to those Charts.
- Jump to a Series' Source Chart. Clicking the Shared Series icon on the Edit Data screen now takes you directly to the Chart the Series is shared from.
- Prevent Accidental Deletion of Shared Series. Deleting a Data Series that’s shared to other Charts or used in a Calculated Series now triggers a warning explaining the impact of the deletion.
- Format Chart Dates Your Way. Choose how dates display on a Chart, such as month and year only or an abbreviated month, instead of always seeing the full date.
- Show a Chart's Latest Value in Lists. Add a "Latest Chart Value" column to any Item List to see a Chart's most recent update without opening the Chart itself.
Fields
- Keep Private Fields Text-Only. Private Fields no longer accept images, helping keep the information entered in them secure.
Filter
- A More Consistent Look for Date Quick Filters. When you apply a Date Quick Filter, its appearance now matches the style of other Quick Filters.
- Filter Items With Any or No Impact. The Impact rule on the Item Filter now includes "Any" and "None" options, letting you filter for Items with an Impact recorded or with none at all.
- One Filter for Any Date Type. A new Date Quick Filter lets you choose the date type you want to filter by, such as Completed, Start, or Due, from a single filter. The Item Filter now also supports this flexible Date criteria when building rules.
Framework
- Grids Stop Auto-Scrolling. Grids throughout KaiNexus, such as those in the Admin section, no longer automatically scroll when you select a row or click an action button.
- Upgraded Icon Library. KaiNexus's icon library has been upgraded to Font Awesome 7.2.0.
Goals
- Automatically Calculate Goals by Location. Goals can now automatically calculate the Location & Below value by summing goal values from Locations beneath it and rolling the totals up the hierarchy. You can still manually override the calculated value when needed.
- Keep Your Goals Organized in Folders. You can now group Goals into folders to keep them organized on the Admin page and in Widget and Report dropdowns.
- Aggregate Goals Across Locations. When you select multiple Locations in a Board’s Location Filter, Goal Widget metrics now combine the results across those Locations.
Items
- No More Outdated Item Notifications. Overdue and Status Change flags now clear automatically when an Item is no longer overdue or when you complete it, so you only see notifications that still apply.
- Expanded Complete Nested Items Capabilities. The "Complete Nested Items" option now works on nested Items with Advanced, Standard, and Author-Only team types, in addition to Simple. The same restrictions still apply: the nested Item must have no resolution and be only one level down.
- A New Look for the Status Selector. The Status selector on an Item Work Panel now has a refreshed design, and a new "Edit Status" option in the Actions menu shows all available status transitions.
KaiNexus Intelligence (Beta)
- Draft Items with Smart Create. Smart Create lets you start from unstructured thoughts or attachments while KaiNexus recommends a Template and drafts an Item for your review. Whether you're unsure which Template to use or simply want to get work into the system faster, Smart Create helps you get started.
- Surface the Right Insight When It Matters. Custom Insights can now include a Nudge that appears when an Item meets the criteria you define, pointing people to the most relevant Insight without making them look for it.
- Check Work Before an Item Moves Forward. Checkpoints use AI to review an Item as it moves through key stages, offering guidance at submission, resolution, and completion to help ensure the work meets your standards before moving forward.
- Smart Create and Checkpoints on Mobile. Smart Create and Smart Checkpoints are now supported in the KaiNexus mobile app.
List
- See Impact Locations at a Glance. Add an "Impact Locations" column to any Item List to see where an Item’s impact was recorded without opening it.
Mobile
- Field Order Preserved on Mobile. Fields and Attributes now follow their configured order more consistently on mobile.
- Bigger Text in Your PDF Exports. Choose from Small to Extra Large text sizes when exporting PDFs, making Boards, Items, and Item Lists easier to read.
People
- Filter by Every License Type. Capture, Offline, Kiosk, and Wallboard users now appear as License Type options in People Filters.
Reports
- Faster User Engagement Summary. The User Engagement Summary Report now loads faster, so you can spend less time waiting for your results.
- Drill Into People Data From Graphs. Click a bar in the Engagement by Location or Engagement by Persona Reports to see the people it represents.
Resolution
- Require Notes on Qualitative Impacts. Qualitative Impact Types can now require a note before a resolution can be saved, helping ensure important context is captured.
- Guide Users on Qualitative Impact Notes. Include a custom tooltip on the Notes field for a Qualitative Impact to give users additional guidance when entering context.
- Customize Approve and Decline Wording. You can now customize the terminology used when approving and declining Item Resolutions, wherever these actions appear.
Templates
- New Options for Customizing Templates. Admins can now make certain changes to a Template’s Fields, Attributes, and Milestones directly from the Templates page in the Admin section.
Translation
- 70 More Elements Now Translatable. Team Type labels, Bulk Change options, Log Work, View History, and dozens of other Item Work Panel elements can now be translated.
- Translation Page Loads Faster. The Translation page now loads with the first available language selected by default, saving time by not loading every language at once.
User Profile
- Set a Default Item Location for Individual Users. Admins can now set a Default Item Location on user profiles, so that when a user has multiple Locations, one is automatically applied as the default Originating or Responsible Location for their Items. Contact your Customer Success Manager to enable this option for your organization.
Widgets
- Cleaner Goal Widget Design. Goal Widgets now have a refreshed, more streamlined design with improved spacing, labeling, and alignment.
- See Exactly Who's Behind the Numbers. People Percentage Goal Widgets now let you open lists of users who met the goal, didn’t meet it, or are included in the total, with a legend organized into those three categories.
- Include Archived Items in Widget Totals. Widget counts now include Archived Items when the Item Filter is set to include them.
XLSX
- Combined Impact Sheets in XLSX Exports. When you choose to merge Template sheets, Impact, Custom Schedule, and Investment data from all Templates now appear in a single sheet for each type of data, instead of separate sheets for each Template.
