3.x Release Notes

KaiNexus 3.2.0 Release Notes

May 31st, 2024

The anticipation is over – our latest release is finally here, and it's our most impressive one yet! Packed with an array of game-changing features and customization options, this release is poised to redefine the way you work. Get ready to experience innovation like never before.

Release Highlights

  • Conditional Attribute Values are here to give you more Template configuration options. Use them to narrow down which values users can select in one Attribute based on a selection in another Attribute.
  • Attribute Syncing allows you to sync Attribute Values between Parent and Child Items. When activated, modifying an Attribute on a Parent Item will automatically update the corresponding Attribute on Child Items to the same value. You can also configure the sync to work in the opposite direction or bi-directionally.
  • You can now add a Chart Thumbnail column to your Item Lists in List, Tree, and Gantt View, helping you visualize Charts without needing to open the Item.
  • It’s now possible to sort Item Lists using the Key People and Key Dates columns.

Enhancements

Status

  • Introducing: Custom Statuses, a powerful new feature that will help you add even more customization to your Templates. Now, you can create unique Statuses, rename existing ones, change their colors, and decide which appear on different Templates. Reach out to your Customer Success Manager to get started.
  • We updated the activity options on Activity Feed Cards to support the introduction of Custom Statuses. Check out our support page on Activity Feed Cards to learn how to filter for the activity you’re interested in.
  • You can now filter which Items appear in your Kanban View List by Status, including Custom Statuses.
  • We updated the verbiage on notifications to support the introduction of Custom Statuses.

Attributes

  • Use Conditional Attribute Values to narrow down which values someone can select in an Attribute based on a selection in another Attribute. After your Customer Success Manager helps you turn on the Conditional Attribute Values feature, you can configure the logic for each Attribute Value yourself.
  • Attributes placed in AdHoc Fields will follow your Conditional Attribute logic.
  • Conditional Attributes will have an extra column and Quick Filter on their administration page to help you manage the logic tied to each Attribute Value.
  • You can now hide folder labels in Attribute drop-downs, simplifying the experience for your end users. Try it out while creating a folder of Attribute Values following the same conditional logic.
  • When an Attribute’s Values belong to an Attribute Value Group, you will see an inactive Add button on their administration page, providing a visual indication that you cannot create new values for the Attribute.
For guidance on setup, contact your Customer Success Manager.

Lists

  • You can now add a Chart Thumbnail column to your Item Lists in List, Tree, and Gantt View, helping you visualize Charts without needing to open the Item.
  • It’s now possible to sort Item Lists using the Key People and Key Dates columns.
  • Custom Impact Columns are now supported on Widget Item Lists.
  • You can now control whether new Item Lists created for your organization will have the Compact or Comfortable View by default.
  • Item Lists are now sortable by the date of the Last Comment, Update, or Note.
  • We made several improvements to Gantt View, including the ability to define a default time interval, a helpful message when your List returns no results, and an adjustment to the warning that appears when your List surpasses the maximum Child Item limit.
  • Item List columns displaying Team Roles will now display a person’s User Type if they are an Inactive, Setup, Offline, or Capture User.
  • Custom Lists in the Items Section now have icons to indicate the Share setting of the List.
  • Private Items will now have the private icon beside their title in Item Lists.
  • We improved the visualization of Text Areas in the Detail and Kanban View of an Item.
  • When you don’t have permission to view an Item in a List’s Parent column, there will be a tooltip with the word “Private” to explain that you do not have access to the item.
  • We improved Item List performance when the primary and secondary sort order are Status.

Filter

  • We added more options to the Starting and Ending fields in date filters, giving you more flexibility when filtering Items by date.
  • The Impact criteria in the Item Filter now has an extra option to filter Items by Amount Type, which refers to whether the Impact is a One-Time, Recurring, Range, or Custom Schedule Impact.
  • You can also specify an Amount Type in Custom Impact Columns and Widgets.

Resolution

  • You can now remove the “Unknown Person/Process” option from your Impact and Investment Types. This configuration is helpful when you want to ensure your users identify a specific person or process for certain Impacts.
  • When a user has the “Submit for Approval” button and no “Complete” button on a Resolution window, the submit button will now be blue, indicating that it is the primary option.
  • You can now rename the term “Impact Location” so your users see a different label when selecting an Impact Location.
  • When a Template only has one quantitative Impact Type, it will be automatically selected, and the “Add Amount” button will show by default, reducing the number of clicks necessary to log the Impact.
  • We improved system performance while resolving an Item.

Reports

  • We are introducing a new Report for organizations with the Milestone Module enabled: the Cycle Time by Milestone Report. With this Report, you can now track the time your Milestones spend in each Milestone Status.
  • We improved the performance of Activity by Person Reports to prevent certain Reports from timing out.
  • When you export an Impact Report to XLSX, only the columns currently added to your Report will appear in the export.

API

  • A new type of API call is now available: Widget API. This API allows you to export a Widget value, which is useful if you want to pass a People Count, Item Count, or Impact to another application.
  • JSON Item API now supports Custom Team Roles.

Milestones

  • We improved the process of adding Milestones to a Template with existing Items.

UI

  • We adjusted the colors of Comment headers to make them easier to read.
  • As part of our continuous endeavor to enhance user experience, we've implemented multiple UI improvements across the application.

  • We fixed a bug causing the Complete window of some Items to include certain Fields and Attributes mistakenly.
  • We addressed a bug causing problems with the Create Screen for specific Items containing Parent fields.
