Multiple Custom Layout Tabs per Template

Reach out to your Customer Experience Lead to take advantage of this feature.

KaiNexus allows for even more customization options for designing the layout of your Templates. In addition to designing your Template’s layout into multiple sections, you can also choose to add or remove some additional tabs on the Template. This allows you to organize the information captured on your Template, not just through different panels, but through different tabs as well. This feature is HUGE because with this ability you can essentially create multiple Custom Layout Templates within a single Template Type within KaiNexus. The ability to hide unnecessary tabs on your Template will also help guide your Users towards a more intuitive experience when they work with Items submitted into KaiNexus.

Where are Tabs on my Template?

The Tab headers can be found near the top of your Template’s Work Panel. Clicking through them will toggle a different view within the Template that will display the related information within the respective panel.

By default, your Template will have the following Tabs:

  • Template Name” - This tab contains all of the details within your Item.

  • Resolution” - This tab contains all of the Resolution details within your Item.

NOTE: This tab will only be available if Resolution has been enabled on your Template.

  • Comments” - This tab contains all of the Comments that have been made within this Item.

  • Projects” - This tab contains a list of all of the Projects that have been nested under this Item.

NOTE: This tab will only be available for Project Templates.

  • Improvements” - This tab contains a list of all of the Improvements that have been nested under this Item.

NOTE: This tab will only be available for Project, Incident, and Chart Templates.

  • Incidents” - This tab contains a list of all of the Incidents that have been nested under this Item.

NOTE: This tab will only be available for Project and Chart Templates.

  • Tasks” - This tab contains a list of all of the Tasks that have been nested under this Item.

NOTE: This tab will only be available for Project, Improvement, Incident, and Chart Templates.

  • Charts” - This tab contains a list of all of the Charts that have been nested under this Item.

NOTE: This tab will only be available for Project, Improvement, Incident, and Chart Templates.

  • Timeline” - This tab contains an audit trail of all the changes that have been made within this Item.

  • Other” - This tab contains several panels of information that are common across all Items. For example, the Team, Dates, Files, Links, and more.

How many other Tabs can I add to my Template?

You can have up to 5 custom layout tabs on your Template. Within each of these tabs, you customize the design to your liking. This means defining the number of sections, the number of columns within each section, the panels displayed within each section, and even the fields that appear within each panel.

For example, notice how the Work Panel within “Tab 1” is displaying different information and has a unique layout when compared to the Work Panel within “Tab 2”. You have the option to customize up to 5 unique work panels within a single Template.

What tabs can I hide from my Template?

With so many options to choose from with your Templates, this can lead to certain options that may cause confusion or some tabs that may be underutilized. For those reasons, it may be more helpful to hide those tabs from your Template. The following tabs are tabs you have the option of hiding completely from your Templates:

  • Projects” - Tab that displays nested Projects

  • Improvements” - Tab that displays nested Improvements

  • Incidents” - Tab that displays nested Incidents

  • Tasks” - Tab that displays nested Tasks

  • Charts” - Tab that displays nested Charts

  • Resolution” - Tab that displays the Resolution details

  • Comments” - Tab that displays the Comments section

  • Timeline” - Tab that displays the Item’s timeline and audit trail

  • Other” - Tab that displays common panels within an Item
