Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I add a certain user to my Item's Team?

Troubleshoot the scenario in which a certain user doesn't appear in the list of users when editing an Item's Team.

So you're working with an Item and you've gone to add a certain user to its Team, but they're not showing up when you search for them in that Team Role's field. You have all the necessary permissions to edit the Item's Team, and you can see other users in that Team Role's field. So why can't you add this one particular user?

There are a few reasons why a particular user can't be added to an Item's Team:

User Type

Check the user's User Type by opening their user profile by clicking their name on a People List or in search results.

Only General, Capture, Offline, and Setup Users can be added to an Item's Team. If the user you're attempting to add is any other type of user, they will not appear in the Team Role's field and can not be added to the Team.

Permission to participate

Most Templates in KaiNexus require users to have a System Role containing the "Participate" permission in order to be added to an Item's Team. Most organizations give the "Participate" permission for all Templates to everybody, but some use this permission to limit participation in certain improvement work to certain people.

If the user you're attempting to add does not have a System Role containing the "Participate" permission for this Template, they will not appear in the Team Role's field and can not be added to the Team. Your organization's administrators will be able to help you confirm whether or not the user has the appropriate permission.

Template configurations

Templates in KaiNexus are highly configurable. One of the ways they can be configured is by applying filters to each of the Template's Team Roles to limit which users can be added. For example, your organization may have configured the Responsible Team Role on your A3 Template such that only someone with a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification can be added.

If the user you're attempting to add does not meet the Template's Team Role requirements, they will not appear in the Team Role's field and can not be added to the Team.
