Conditional Tabs and Panels

Trigger Tabs and Panels to appear on an Item when specific Attribute Values are selected.

Conditional Tabs and Panels allow you to control the visibility of specific Tabs and Panels on Items based on the selection of Attribute Values. This helps simplify your workspace by displaying only the relevant information for each Item or process phase.

How does it work?

Configuration

Your Customer Success Manager will help you configure this feature on your Templates, but there are a few key points to keep in mind:

  • Conditional Tabs and Panels are configured on the Template level, meaning all Items created from a Template will behave the same.
  • You will pick one or more of the Template's Attributes to control whether specific Tabs or Panels are shown or hidden on an Item.
  • When the appearance of a Tab or Panel is dependent on an Attribute Value selection, it will only be shown on the Item after an Attribute is updated and saved to the necessary value.

Example Use Case

When are Conditional Tabs and Panels helpful? Let's use an Incident Report Template as an example.

There might be a scenario when an incident's solution needs to be implemented across multiple areas of your organization. In such cases, you want a nested Item List to track the rollout process.

If you aren't ready to start the rollout process, a Conditional Panel helps you keep the nested Item List hidden:

When you answer "Yes" to the "Can this be rolled out to other areas?" Attribute, the nested Item List will appear:

This is a great way to simplify your Template and only display certain components when necessary.

Data preservation

Even if a Tab or Panel is not presently shown on an Item, the information within the Tab or Panel is preserved on the Item.

For example, if you populate a Field on one Tab and then that Tab disappears due to an Attribute change, the data in the Field will not be lost. You can visualize it anytime by adding that Field as an Item List column, and when the Tab reappears on the Item, the Field will contain the same value.

Ofie Profile PicPro Tip: Fields and Attributes on hidden Tabs and Panels are still available and editable anytime in the Edit Details window of the Item.

Exporting to PDF

When you print an Item with Conditional Tabs and Panels, only the Tabs and Panels currently visible will be available to include or exclude in your export.
