View a Board in the KaiNexus mobile app
Take your improvement work on the go with Boards in the mobile app.
Boards play a crucial role in managing improvement work in KaiNexus. Often the first thing users see when signing in, they offer key information to help you efficiently achieve your goals within the platform.
With the mobile app, you can easily view Boards and manage your entire workflow on the go, no desktop required.

Who can view a Board in the mobile app?
Users with the "General" User Type can view a Board in the mobile app.
The Boards section
Selecting "Boards" in the mobile app's navigation bar will show a list of your Boards. Select a Board to view it.

Your default Board will always appear in the mobile app's Board section. Other Boards must meet the following criteria to be included in this section:
- You are a Viewer, Editor, or Owner of the Board
- The Board has been configured to "Show on Mobile."
How to show a Board in the mobile app
Important: You must have permission to edit a Board to show it in the mobile app. Only Board Owners and users with the "Board Administrator" System Role permission in the Board's Location can edit it.
In the desktop app, navigate to the Board you'd like to appear in the mobile app, then:
- Select the Actions button at the top right of the Board.
- Select Edit Board.

- Under the Mobile header, select the Show on Mobile checkbox.

- Select Save.
All users included in the Board's Viewers and Editors will now see the Board when they navigate to the Boards section in the mobile app.
Search for a Board
If a Board is not shown in the Boards section, you can still find and view it in the mobile app, assuming you have permission to view the Board.
To search for a Board:
- Select Search in the mobile app.

- Up to 5 of your recently viewed Boards will be listed. Select a Board from the list to view it.

- If you are looking for a different Board, use the search bar to find it.

Filter the Board
If a Board includes a Location Filter or Quick Filters on desktop, those filters will also be available in the mobile app. However, the Global Filter—which is an Item Filter that applies to the entire Board—is not available on mobile, even if it is configured on the desktop version.
By default, the Location Filter and Quick Filters will be hidden to maximize space for viewing the Board.

Quick Filters
If there are any Quick Filters applied, a blue number count will appear besides Filters, showing you how many Quick Filters are currently in use.
-
If no count appears, no Quick Filters are applied.
- To view the Quick Filters, tap the drop-down arrow beneath Filters to expand them.
To apply or update the Quick Filters:

-
Tap a Quick Filter to open a drop-down menu of possible criteria and select which one you'd like to apply.
- Applied filters are highlighted in blue and display a count of the selected criteria. Tap the count to view a tooltip showing which criteria are applied.
When you're done, tap the up arrow icon to collapse the Quick Filters.
Location Filter
If there is a Location Filter applied, the name of the Location will appear in the collapsed Location panel.
-
To view the Location filter, tap the right arrow to expand it. You'll see your Starred Locations at the top and the full Network hierarchy beneath them.
To use the Location Filter:
-
Tap a Location in the Network hierarchy to view data for that Location.
- If available, use the Originating, Responsible, or Impact Location toggles to control which Location type on Items is referenced.
- When Location & Below is selected, Cards display data for the selected Locations and any nested Locations beneath them.
- Tap the blue arrow icons next to a Location to expand or collapse its nested Locations.
- Use the up and down caret icons at the top of the Network hierarchy to expand or collapse entire tiers of the Network.
Pro Tip: For more information about Board Location filters, check out our support page on Filtering Boards by Location.
The following options are not included in Location Filters in the mobile app:
-
Level Type filter
- Network Attribute filter
- "Show User Counts" checkbox
When you're done, tap the left arrow icon to collapse the Location Filter.
Board Actions
Select the ellipses icon beside the Board's title to view actions.

- Select Reload Board to refresh the Board.
- Select Board Link to copy a direct link to the Board on your clipboard.
Pro Tip: You cannot edit Boards, edit Cards, or add new Cards in the mobile app. Use the desktop version for these actions.
How do Cards work?
All Card types are supported in the mobile app. Here are some tips on how Cards work in the mobile app:
- The order of Cards in the mobile app corresponds to the positioning of Cards in the desktop app. Cards will be ordered starting with the first column in the first section of the Board. Subsequent columns from left to right will be displayed before moving down to the next section. You cannot change the order in which Cards are listed in the mobile app.
- You can expand a Card to full screen by selecting the expand icon in the Card's header.

Limitations
- The mobile app will hide and turn off any Board filters, Quick Filters, and Location filters on the Board.
- The mobile app does not support Calendar View. If an Item List Card is in Calendar View, it will be displayed in Detail View instead.
- You cannot edit the data on Chart Cards in the mobile app.
- Selecting data points on Report Cards will not open a list of contributing Items in the mobile app.
- You cannot change correlations on X-Matrix Cards in the mobile app.
- Selecting Item Count, People Count, Impact, and Goal Widgets will not open a list of contributing Items in the mobile app.
