Time Savings People

Learn how to create, edit, organize, and delete a Time Savings Person with the Advanced ROI Module.

What is a Time Savings Person?

Suppose one of your employees comes up with an idea that saves them 5 hours a month. That’s great, but wouldn’t it be even better to know how much money that time was worth? These soft savings can be calculated based on a list of your employees—your Time Savings People—and the estimated hourly rate of each position.

With this information, when someone resolves an Item with a Time Savings impact, you know not only how much time was saved, but how much money was saved as well.

  • A Time Savings Person is a type of 'Soft Savings'.
  • The order of the Time Savings People on the Time Savings People page in the Admin section determines the order in which they will appear in any Time Savings People drop-down menu when resolving an Item.

Two Line OfieNOTE: The Admin area is only accessible by administrators; only Quality Administrators can perform the functions below, including creating, editing, organizing, and deleting a Time Savings Person.

Create a Time Savings Person

  • Navigate to Admin > Organization > Time Savings People.
  • Select the + Add button then select Create Time Savings Person.

  • In the resulting Create Time Savings Person window, fill in the following fields:
    • Name: Enter the name of the Time Savings Person in the "Name" field.
    • Description: (**Optional**) Add a description in the "Description" field. This description will appear if you hover over this Time Savings Person when resolving an Improvement.
    • Rate: (**Optional**) We strongly recommend that you enter the estimated hourly rate for this Time Savings Person in the “Rate” field so that, when an Improvement is marked as having saved this kind of person time, the system can calculate how much that time is worth monetarily.
    • Currency: If your organization has multiple currencies in place with the Advanced ROI module, choose which currency this type of person uses.
    • Default: If you want this Time Savings Person to be the default type, check the box next to “Default.” If you do so, when someone records that their Improvement had a time savings impact, this type of person will be filled in by default, although the user can change it to another type of person if necessary.
    • Locations:
    • Advanced: To help us accurately calculate the soft savings of any recorded time savings, enter how many hours a day, days per week, and weeks per year the average person of this type works in the “Hours/Day,” “Days/Week,” and “Weeks/Year” fields, respectively.
  • Select Save.

Create a Time Savings People folder

Time Savings People can be nested in folders.

  • Navigate to Admin > Organization > Time Savings People.
  • Select the + Add button then select Create Folder.
  • In the resulting Create Folder window:
    • Name: Enter the name of the folder.
    • Description: (**Optional**) Add a description. This description will appear when you hover over this folder when resolving an Improvement. 
    • Locations
  • Click Save.

Organize Time Savings People

Time Savings People can be arranged in your preferred order relative to each other. The order that you set on this page will be reflected in any Time Savings People drop-down menus when resolving an Item.

To move a Time Savings Person or folder:

  • Navigate to Admin > Organization > Time Savings People.
  • Select the Time Savings Person or folder you want to move so that it is highlighted blue.
  • Drag it across the list to your desired destination which will be highlighted in a lighter blue.
  • Drop it in the correct position.

Edit a Time Savings Person

  • Navigate to Admin > Organization > Time Savings People.
  • Hover over the Time Savings Person (or folder) until it is highlighted blue.
  • Select the pencil icon to edit that Time Savings Person (or folder).
  • Edit the relevant fields in the Edit Time Savings Person window. The edit fields are the same as the create fields.
  • Select Save to preserve your edits.

Delete a Time Savings Person

  • Navigate to Admin > Organization > Time Savings People.
  • Hover over the Time Savings Person (or folder) until it is highlighted blue.
  • Select the x icon to delete that Time Savings Person (or folder).
