Release Highlights
Introducing KaiNexus Insights (Beta)
Intelligent, context-aware analysis is now available directly in KaiNexus. KaiNexus Insights are designed to summarize content, identify trends, and provide continuous improvement coaching directly on Items, Item Lists, and Notifications, all right where you're working. For organizations that need Insights tailored to their specific workflows, Custom Insights are also available—contact your Customer Success Manager to get started.
Discover a new way to organize Boards
Boards now support up to five tabs, each with its own layout and Cards, giving you a new way to organize content without needing multiple Boards.
Take control of more Admin settings
Admin areas previously managed by KaiNexus are now directly accessible to customer administrators, including new dedicated pages for Languages, Branding, Currencies, Impact Types, Investment Types, and No Change Reasons, as well as expanded options on existing Attribute and Field pages.
Upload Files Directly via File Fields
A new File Field type can be added to Templates, giving file uploads a structured home on an Item. Like other Fields, File Fields can be required at specific lifecycle stages and made conditionally available, giving you greater control over when and how files are collected.
Location-based conditional logic
Fields, Attributes, Tabs, and Panels can now be configured to show or hide based on an Item's Location, giving you more precise control over what appears on an Item depending on where it lives in your organization.
All Improvements
Admin
- Self-service access to more Admin areas. We've expanded the areas that customer administrators can manage directly within the Admin section, giving your team greater control over common configurations. This includes new dedicated pages for Languages, Branding, Currencies, Impact Types, Investment Types, and No Change Reasons, as well as expanded options on existing pages such as the ability to edit and archive Fields and Attributes.
AI
- Introducing AI Insights (Beta). Intelligent, context-aware analysis is now available directly in KaiNexus. AI Insights are designed to summarize content, identify trends, and provide continuous improvement coaching directly on Items, Item Lists, and Notifications, all right where you're working. For organizations that need Insights tailored to their specific workflows, Custom Insights are also available—contact your Customer Success Manager to get started.
- Power AI Insights with a knowledge base. When Custom Insights are configured for your organization, relevant files can be included as a knowledge base so the Insight can reference your own documentation in its responses.
- Include richer workflow context in Custom Insights. When configured, Custom Insights can draw on additional workflow context such as Template settings, Milestone configuration, and child Item dependencies, helping them surface more informed and relevant analysis for your team.
- AI Insights available on mobile. Any Insights added to your organization will also display in Items, Item Lists, and Notifications in the mobile app, giving you access to the same AI-powered analysis on mobile as on desktop.
- More details included in AI indexing. Resolution and Milestone information from Items is now included in AI Search indexing, giving it more complete context when generating responses. AI Insights also draws on the parent’s name alongside Resolution and Milestone data.
Boards
- Organize Boards with tabs. Boards now support up to five tabs, each with its own layout and Cards, giving you a new way to organize content without needing multiple Boards.
Capacity Planning
- Set a default Capacity Category on Item Lists. You can now control which Capacity Category users see by default when viewing an Item List in Capacity View.
- Set a default Capacity Category on User Capacity Schedules. You can now control which Capacity Category is shown by default when viewing someone’s Capacity Schedule in their profile.
- Control child Item expansion in Capacity View. You can now set whether child Items are expanded by default in Capacity View Lists, aligning with the same option already available in Tree and Gantt View.
- Export Capacity Commitments via the JSON API. JSON Item API exports can now optionally include an Item's Capacity Commitment data, giving you richer information when integrating with external systems.
File Attachments
- Upload files via a dedicated File Field. A new File Field type can be added to Templates, giving file uploads a structured home on an Item. Like other Fields, File Fields can be required at specific lifecycle stages and made conditionally available, giving you greater control over how files are collected.
- Images reliably appear in the Images area. Images attached to Items will now consistently appear in Image Panels and Tabs, regardless of how they were uploaded.
Items
- More readable Item headers on small screens. When the Item Work Panel becomes smaller due to screen size or mobile view, the title automatically repositions to avoid overlap.
- Starred Locations in Location Search. Your starred Locations now appear at the top of the Location Search window in a dedicated section, expanding Starred Location support to another area of the platform.
Templates
- Location-based conditional logic. Fields, Attributes, Tabs, and Panels can now be configured to show or hide based on an Item's Location, giving you more precise control over what appears on an Item depending on where it lives in your organization.
Translation
- Expanded translation support for Boards and Cards. Additional static text elements related to Boards and Cards are now translatable, continuing the effort to make more of KaiNexus available in multiple languages.
Widgets
- Improved Item List configuration in Widgets. You can now configure View Options, Additional Column Options, and Sort Order for Item Lists shown when drilling into Item Count, Counter, and Impact Widgets. These settings are available in the Item Filter section of the Widget setup.
XLSX
- Consolidated Impact data on XLSX exports. When exporting an Item List to XLSX with Impact sheets included, a new "Include Attributes on Impact Sheets" option places Impact Attribute data as additional columns on the main Impact sheet rather than on a separate sheet, keeping all Impact data in one place.
- Yearly Total column on Custom Schedule XLSX exports. XLSX exports for Items with Custom Scheduled Impacts now include a "Yearly Total" column on the Custom Schedule sheet, summing all scheduled Impacts for each year.
Bug Fixes
- The Y-axis on Impact Reports in graph view now scales to accommodate data displayed as a line.
- Uploading images via inline editing on nested Item Lists now correctly adds the file to the Images Panel.
- Service Accounts now display a visual indicator when locked due to failed authentication attempts.
- Boards will now reload correctly when adding all Card Types.

- Script-like text in Items will no longer trigger a browser popup when exporting certain Boards to PDF.
- We fixed an issue where Impacts Widgets entered an error state under certain configurations.
- Starred Locations that do not meet the active filter criteria can no longer be selected in Location drop-downs.
- Team Panels will no longer display unintended scroll bars.
