KaiNexus 3.3.2 Release Notes

May 16th, 2026

Release Highlights

OAuth 2.0 Support via Service Accounts

We’ve introduced Service Accounts to handle API authentication, now supporting OAuth 2.0 in addition to API keys. This provides a more secure and flexible way to integrate with enterprise systems.

Advanced Quick Filters

Quick Filters for Location, Attribute, Impact, Investment, Parent, User, and Currency now support secondary criteria such as Location Type and Attribute Type. This gives you more precise control over what Items you see while keeping the simplicity of Quick Filters.

Expanded Impact Location Filtering

Custom Impact Columns and Impact Widgets can now be filtered by Impact Location, giving you greater control over how Impact data is visualized.

Chart Upgrades

We’ve made several improvements to Charts to make them easier to manage. For example, you can now edit Bowling Charts in-line and share Threshold and Bowling series across multiple Charts for more consistent visualizations.

Easier and Safer Sandbox Access

You can now access Sandbox directly from your user profile menu in production. We’ve also added a new System Role permission to control who can access Sandbox, along with clearer visual indicators that make it easy to distinguish between Sandbox and production and help prevent unintended changes.

Self-Service User Imports

The User Import tool is now available for customers, allowing User Managers to independently handle bulk user updates and imports using XLSX files.

All Enhancements

API

  • OAuth 2.0 support via Service Accounts. We’ve introduced Service Accounts for API authentication, now supporting OAuth 2.0 alongside API keys and providing a more secure way to integrate with enterprise systems.

Attributes

  • Customize Attribute note labels by value. Attribute note labels can now be set per value, letting you tailor prompts for each selection and provide context-specific guidance without adding extra fields.

Badges

  • Expanded Badge awarding capabilities. Badges that support both automatic and manual awarding can now be granted directly from a user’s profile, rather than only via user editing.

Boards

  • Prevent blank PDF exports. If a Board’s default print settings have no Cards selected, the PDF export will now include all Cards by default, ensuring exports are never empty.

  • Cleaner Default Card Layout experience. The setup screen for the default appearance of a Board’s Cards has been streamlined to reduce visual clutter.

  • Improved Board Actions menu. The Board Actions dropdown now has updated labels and a cleaner design, along with a less intrusive success message when copying a Board link.

  • Board header updates. Board headers now offer the ability to collapse filters and feature an improved filter layout that saves space and aligns more closely with the Items section for a more consistent experience.

  • Simplified experience configuring Boards. The Create and Edit Board screens now feature updated labels, improved tooltips, and collapsed sections by default, making them easier to navigate and use.

Capacity

  • Removed timeframe restrictions in Capacity View. Item Lists in Capacity View now support viewing commitments over any duration, improving visibility for long-term project schedules.

  • Updated nesting in Capacity View. Parent and child Items that match your primary filters are now shown and expanded by default, aligning Capacity View with Tree View behavior.

Cards

  • More space for Card titles. Space for header icons is now only reserved on hover, so Card titles are less likely to be cut off.

  • Improved Card Stack expand and collapse behavior. Card Stacks now follow the first Card’s expanded or collapsed state and maintain it as you navigate, preventing unexpected collapsing.

  • Swap Charts in Chart Cards. You can now replace the Chart shown on a Card without deleting it, making Board updates faster and easier.

Charts

  • Quick access to edit Chart data. You can now add Chart data directly from the Chart Panel header on an Item, as well as from the Quick Edit menu in Item Lists, using the new Add Data option.

  • Align data visualization in Chart thumbnails. Bowling Chart thumbnails now support a static data column width set at the Template level, creating a more consistent view where data lines up across all Charts in a list.

  • Cleaner Bowling Chart appearance. The grey separator bars on Bowling Charts are now thinner, making Charts easier to read and showing more data at once.

  • Share Bowling and Threshold series across charts. You can now reuse Bowling and Threshold series across multiple Charts, making it easier to manage targets in one place and keep data consistent.

  • Improved Chart Card Copying behavior. Copying a Chart Card now duplicates only the Card itself, preventing the creation of an additional Chart Item.

  • Inline editing for Bowling Charts. You can now edit Bowling Chart data directly from thumbnails, Cards, and Panels, making quick updates easier without opening the full edit window.

Filter

  • Introducing Advanced Quick Filters. Location, Attribute, Impact, Investment, Parent, User, and Currency Quick Filters now support secondary criteria, such as Location Type and Attribute Type, giving you more precise control over which Items you see while preserving the simplicity of Quick Filters. You can even set defaults for secondary criteria while editing the Board.

Imports

  • Self-service user imports. The user import tool is now available to customers, allowing User Managers to handle bulk updates and imports independently using XLSX files.

  • Downloadable user import template. Download a blank XLSX template directly from the User Import page to quickly format your data for import.

  • Track user imports. A new Import ID filter in the Admin Timeline lets you view all changes made during a specific user import session, making it easier to review updates.

  • User import completion email. After importing users, you’ll receive a confirmation email summarizing the updates.

Items

  • More reliable recurrence. Items will no longer stop recurring when the next recurrence would assign the Item to a user who is currently inactive.

Lists

  • Customize columns by Impact Location. Custom Impact Columns can now be filtered by Impact Location, helping you tailor data visualization and maintain accuracy.

Notifications

  • Item Filter preview in notifications. Item Filters applied to custom notification preferences can now be viewed in the new read-only experience, providing a clearer, more accessible preview.

PDF

  • Expanded PDF export support. Chart thumbnail and Custom Team Role columns are now included in Item List PDF exports, ensuring the data you see in the platform is accurately reflected in the export.

Report

  • More consistent filtering in Bowling view. Applying Impact and Investment Quick Filters on Impact by Item Reports now filters both Items and Impact data in Bowling view, aligning its behavior with List and Graph views.

  • Improved Quick Filter behavior on Report Cards. Quick Filters are now consistently applied to maximized Report Cards, resolving cases where they were not applied correctly.

Roles

  • Dedicated permission for sandbox access. A new System Role permission lets you grant sandbox access to specific users, helping you control who can access your organization’s sandbox environment.

Sandbox

  • Quick access to Sandbox. You can now access your sandbox directly from production in your user profile drop-down menu, removing the need for separate credentials or a separate login URL.

  • Easier to distinguish sandbox from production. A persistent top-of-screen banner now indicates when you’re in a sandbox environment, helping you stay aware and avoid unintended updates.

  • Faster user impersonation in sandbox. Re-authentication has been removed when impersonating users in sandbox, reducing friction for admins during testing and support.

Translation

  • Expanded translation support. We’ve added additional static text translations for fields in Notification Preferences, continuing our effort to support multiple languages across the platform.

User Profile

  • Expanded Excluded Activity Locations coverage. Excluded Activity Locations now also hide “Last Login” and “Last Updated” timestamps on user profiles, extending privacy controls and supporting compliance requirements.

  • Automatic Persona assignment by System Role. If a user does not have a Persona, one will be automatically assigned based on their System Role when the user is created or updated, ensuring all users have a Persona.

Widgets

  • Create Impact Widgets for specific Impact Locations. Impact Widgets can now be set to an Impact Location, allowing you to display location-specific Impact data on your Board without relying on the Location Filter.

XLSX

  • Bulk export Chart data. When exporting an Item List, you can now include each Chart’s data sheet and annotations in a single XLSX file, saving time when analyzing data and preparing Multi Chart Import files. Previously, Charts had to be exported one at a time.

Bug Fixes

  • We fixed a Card alignment issue that occurred when a collapsed Location Filter was present on a Board.
  • Boards will no longer enter an error state when expanding and selecting All in the Location Filter.
  • We fixed an issue where Card options for default print settings were incorrect when editing Boards in the Manage Boards window.
  • The "Show Values" and "Send to Back" options for Second, Third, and Base Thresholds in Charts will now remain checked when enabled.
  • We increased the file attachment limit for email Item submissions to prevent valid submissions from being rejected.
  • We fixed an issue where Badge icons did not display in the Badges column in the People section under certain conditions.
  • Filtering by Impact Location will now include Target and Forecast Resolutions, not just Actual Resolutions.
  • Quick Filters will now be correctly applied to maximized Report Cards even when no Item Filter is present on the Board.
  • Attribute notes will now display during Item submission even when a default value is populated.
  •  We fixed an issue where Cards hidden by visibility settings still showed a checkbox when managing default print settings for a Board.
  • Fields specific to Link Button Widgets will no longer persist in the Edit Widget window when switching to another widget type.
  • Relabeling User Attributes will no longer prevent them from being updated during User Imports.
  • Widgets displaying Time Savings Goals now display correctly when the unit of measurement is currency.
  • Recurring Item processing is now transactional to ensure data integrity.

Note for KaiNexus Champions: Only data in the primary sandbox will be refreshed this release. Alt, Alt-2, Alt-3, and the EU sandbox will not be refreshed.
