KaiNexus 3.3.0 Release Notes

Anticipated January 24th, 2025

Release Highlights

Customize columns in Report Card Item Lists

You can now set default list columns on Report Cards so that when you drill into a data point, the Item List shows the information that matters most to you. No extra setup needed each time.

See Financial Totals at a Glance

“Impact By” Reports in List View now offer totals at the bottom of financial columns, making it easy to view aggregated Impact without exporting data or doing manual calculations.

More Column Options in “By Person” Reports

More columns are now available on “by Person” Reports, allowing you to view and export additional details about each user alongside other report data.

Explore the Data Behind Your Reports

You can now drill into data points on Bowling View Impact Reports and Over Time Activity Reports to see the Items behind each metric. You can also export these views to Excel (XLSX) for deeper analysis.

Configure Graph Options on Reports

Graph View Reports now allow you to customize  X- and Y-axis labels, including titles, angles, truncation, and number formatting. This helps you keep Reports visually clear and easy to understand.

Cleaner Filters on Desktop and Mobile

Quick Filters now show a count of selected criteria instead of individual tags, saving screen space and keeping Boards, Item Lists, and People Lists uncluttered. Quick and Location Filters are also now available on mobile, giving you the same control over your data wherever you are.

Currency Conversion Everywhere

Currency conversion is now available beyond Impact Reports. You can convert financial data in Item List columns, Impact Widgets, and Report drill-down lists for a consistent, complete view of your Impacts across the platform.

All Enhancements

AI

  • Introducing AI Search (Beta). KaiNexus now features AI-powered search, allowing you to find answers directly within the platform. Ask questions and receive cited responses based on Items, KaiNexus support documentation, and continuous improvement educational content. This feature is currently in Beta. Contact your Customer Success Manager to enable it.

Reports

  • Set default columns for Report Card Item Lists. You can now set default columns on Report Cards so that when you drill into a data point, the Item List shows the information that matters most to you. Configurable Custom Impact Columns are not supported.
  • YTD columns are now included in Bowling View Impact Reports. The YTD (Year-to-Date) column aggregates values from the start of the year through the current month, making it easier to track progress toward annual Targets and Forecasts.
  • View totals for financial Report columns. “Impact By” Reports in List View now offer totals at the bottom of financial columns, making it easy to view aggregated Impact without exporting data or doing manual calculations.
  • More columns available in “by Person” Reports. You can now add additional columns to view and export details—such as employee ID or Location—about each user alongside other Report data.
  • Drill into data on Bowling and Over Time Views. You can now drill into metrics in Bowling View Impact Reports and Over Time Activity Reports to view the Items behind each number, providing better context for data analysis.
  • Export Bowling and Over Time Views to Excel. Bowling View Impact Reports and Over Time Activity Reports can now be exported to Excel (XLSX) for easier analysis outside KaiNexus. Only the first page of the Report will be exported.
  • Customize graph options on Reports. Graph View Reports now allow you to configure X- and Y-axis labels, including titles, angles, truncation, and number formatting. This helps you keep Reports visually clear and easy to understand.
  • Improved Y-axis formatting on Reports. Graph View Reports now format Y-axis values more effectively, including abbreviating numbers above 1,000 for easier viewing of large metrics.
  • Show values on Activity Over Time Reports. Activity Over Time Reports can now display values directly on the chart, making trends easier to interpret at a glance.
  • Control inclusion of nested Locations on Report Cards. A new “Location & Below” checkbox allows you to choose whether a “By Location” Report Card shows only the selected Locations or also includes nested Locations.
  • Impact and Investment Quick Filters on the Impact by Item Report now filter Items. Applying these filters now displays only the Items with the selected Impacts or Investments, eliminating confusion about which Items appear. Previously, they only filtered Impact and Investment data.
  • “Activity by” and Cycle Time Report Cards now include an option to display a legend. This makes the Reports easier to interpret.
  • Hiding Report filters now maximizes Report space. Clicking the “Hide Filters” button now collapses all filters except the top row, freeing up more space to focus on the Report itself.
  • Tooltips added to Template and Workflow status bars. Hovering over a Template or Workflow icon in the Reports Snapshot now displays its name, providing additional context and clarifying the source of each status bar.
  • Engagement Reports now default to General users. The User Type filter in Engagement Reports now automatically selects “General,” speeding up Report setup for the most common User Type.
  • Improvement to Pie Chart Reports. The User Participation Summary and Attribute Summary Reports in Pie Chart mode can now display values, percentages, or both, providing a clearer view of your metrics.
  • Legend now available for Attribute Summary Reports in Pie Chart Mode. Including a legend improves readability and keeps visuals consistent with other Reports.

Mobile

  • Filters are now available on mobile. Use Location Filters and Quick Filters on Boards and Item Lists in the mobile app for the same level of data control as on desktop.

Advanced ROI

  • Currency conversion is now available in Item Lists. Financial columns can now be converted between currencies, so you can view totals in a single currency regardless of how they were originally logged.
  • Currency conversion is now available in Impact Widgets. Total Financial Impact and ROI Widgets now support currency conversion, making it easier to analyze results across currencies.
  • Report drill-down lists now use currency conversion. When drilling into Impact Report metrics, Item List financial columns now respect your currency conversion settings, ensuring consistent values between the Report and its drill-downs.

Framework

  • We refreshed several tooltips to provide clearer, more helpful guidance as you navigate KaiNexus.

Item Lists

  • Filter by Impact Attributes in Custom Impact Columns. Custom Impact Columns can now display Impacts for a specific Impact Attribute or its values, allowing more targeted reporting.

Capacity

  • View total hours for multi-week commitments. Commitment tooltips in Capacity Schedules now display the total hours for commitments that span multiple weeks, providing a comprehensive view of time allocated across the entire period.
  • Quick access to your Capacity Schedule. The “My Capacity” link in your User Profile dropdown now opens directly to your Capacity Schedule. Capacity Settings are still available from the Actions menu in your User Profile if you need to update them.

Filters

  • Quick Filters have a fresh look. Quick Filters on Boards, Item Lists, and People Lists now display only a count of selected criteria, rather than individual tags. This saves screen space, keeps the interface clean, and clearly indicates when filters are applied.

Item

  • Celebrate with confetti when completing Items. KaiNexus can now show confetti animations when you complete an Item or submit a Resolution, adding a fun visual touch and boosting engagement for any Templates where this feature is enabled.

Translation

  • More of KaiNexus is now translatable. Static Text in Notifications, User Activity, and other areas can now be translated, supporting a more accessible experience across the platform.
  • Improvements to categorization in the Translation admin page. Static Text elements previously grouped under “General” have been reorganized into more specific categories, with new categories added to make translatable content easier to find and manage.

  • Bulk Planning Items with an Advanced Team Type no longer incorrectly visualizes the Assigner Team Role.

  • Anticipated Start and Due Dates for Standard Work Items now properly update when planning future dates based on the Parent Start Date.
  • We fixed an issue where Due Date time frames were incorrectly applied when submitting Items in Planned Status.
  • Changes to Item filters within the User Filter on Report Cards are now saved correctly after editing.

  • Financial Impact and Financial Investment columns now display correctly when exporting Boards to PDF.

  • We corrected a typo in the window where you enter Custom Schedule Impacts in an Item’s Resolution.
  • Wallboard Users will no longer see the “My Capacity” option in their User Profile dropdown.
