How to Edit the Columns on an Item List

If you have a list of Items that is in the List, Tree, or Gantt View in KaiNexus, then you can highly customize the list by determining which columns are included in the List and how they are organized.

Where can I find the Lists that I can set the columns for?

Item Lists can be found in several places within KaiNexus and thus you can customize the columns for Lists found:

  • From within the Lists section Lists_section.png

  • From within an Item List Card on a Board

  • From within an Item’s nested Item List section

NOTE: For nested Item Lists on one of your Templates, editing the columns directly from within an Item will only affect the list on that particular Item. If you wish to adjust that layout across all of your Items of that Template Type then please reach out to your Customer Experience Lead for assistance.

How do I edit the columns on a List?

To edit the columns of a List, find a list that is in either List, Tree, or Gantt View, then:

  • Click the Ellipses.png in the top right corner of the list.

  • In the resulting drop-down, click the Edit.pngnext to the name of the View Type you are currently on (List, Tree, Gantt).

In the resulting window, you can:

  • Click or type into the search bar at the top to search for a column to add to the list.

  • Under “Min Width”, type in a number to the right of the column name to enforce a minimum width, in pixels, for that column.

  • Under “Max Width”, type in a number to the right of the column name to enforce a maximum width, in pixels, for that column.

  • While hovering over a column, click the X-Delete.png on the right side of the column to remove that column from the list.

  • Drag and drop the columns to reorder them to how you would like them to appear on your list.

NOTE: The columns will appear left to right on your list as they are listed top to bottom in this window.

  • Click “Clear Columns” in the bottom right to remove all currently added columns from the list.

  • When you’re ready, click Save.png.

Making changes in this way will be a permanent change to your Item List.

PRO-TIP: You can also edit the columns temporarily by clicking on the Columnsort.png of one of the column headers on the list. In the resulting drop-down, you can click the Edit_Columns.pngto open up the configure columns window.

NOTE: Configuring your columns with this method will not save the changes you make to the list if you navigate away from the List. These will be temporary changes only.
