How to set an Item as Recurring

Recurring Items are Items that automatically occur on a regularly scheduled basis. This is great for creating and maintaining standard work in KaiNexus. Setting an Item as recurring offers various configuration options fitting all different types of use cases.

 

How to set an Item as Recurring

Once Recurring has been enabled on your template, you can set your Item to Recur by:

  • Opening the Item you want to Recur

  • Click the EllipsesButton.png in the top right corner of the Item.

  • Click Recur.png.

  • In the resulting window,

    • Next to “Make Recurring?” click “Yes” to enable Recurring.

    • Next to “Once Completed:” select between “Reopen” or “Create New Copy” to decide what action you want the Item to automatically perform once the Item has been completed.

    • If “Reopen” is selected, then once the Item has been completed, it will revert back into a Planned or Active status, depending on how you set up the dates.

    • Next to “Frequency:” select between “Immediately” , “Day of Week” , “Day of Month” , or “Days After Complete” to decide how often you want this Item to recur.

    • If you select “Immediately”, then the Item will go back into Active status as soon as it has been completed. Next to “Days to Complete” enter the number of days to decide how long it should take to complete the Item.

    • If you select “Day of Week”, then the Item will go back into Active status on the specified day of the week. Next to the below “Day of Week” drop-down, select which day of the week you want the Item to recur on.

    • If you select “Day of Month”, then the Item will go back into Active status on the specified day of the month. Next to the below “Day of Month” field, enter in the number for the day of the month you want the Item to recur on.

    • If you select “Days After Complete”, then the Item will go back into Active status after the specified number of days has been when the Item is completed. Next to the below “Days After Complete” field, enter the number of days you want the system to wait before having the Item recur again.

    • Next to “Days to Complete” enter the number of days to decide how long it should take to complete the Item.

    • If “Create New Copy” is selected, then once the Item has been completed, a new copy of this Item will be created.

    • Next to “Copy the fields and attributes?” select either “Yes” or “No” if you wish for the information within the fields and attributes on the original Item to be copied over to the newly created Item.

    • Below, the rest of the options under “Frequency” are the same and described above.

  • When you’re done, click Save.png.

NOTE: An Item will have the Recur_icon.pngnext to the status picker in the top left corner to signify that it is a recurring Item.

 

How to stop an Item from Recurring

You can stop an Item from Recurring by:

  • Opening the Recurring Item.

  • Click the EllipsesButton.png in the top right corner of the Item.

  • Click Recur.png.

  • In the resulting window,

    • Next to “Make Recurring?” click “No” to disable Recurring.

  • When you’re done, click Save.png.

 

How to view your Recurring Items

You have the ability to filter a list of Items that are set to Recur. To do so:

  • Go to the Lists section Lists_section.png.

  • Click the Ellipses.pngin the top right corner of the page.

  • In the resulting drop-down, click FiltersonListButton.png.

  • In the resulting window, under Rules:

    • Select Additional in the “Pick a criteria…” field.

    • Select “Recurring” in the resulting field.

  • When you’re done, click Save.png.
