For security purposes, modern browsers do not allow linking from remote web pages to local content using the file://URL scheme.
Is there a workaround?
We recommend that you add the content to an item in KaiNexus as an attachment or set up a local web server capable of hosting the content using another protocol - e.g. http://, https://, ftp://, etc.)
Alternatively:
- Here's a mozillaZine post about disabling this behavior in some versions of Firefox.
- Here's a Microsoft KB article about the registry setting for Internet Explorer that prevents sites outside the local trusted zone from accessing its content.
