NOTE: The goal calculator and visualizer can only be added to Threshold Charts.
With this update, you can now add a goal calculator and visualizer to any line or bar Chart in KaiNexus using thresholds. A goal visualizer will be added to the Chart so that you can quickly check in on the progress being made.
The goal is calculated with the equation (actual - baseline) / (goal - baseline), where:
- “Baseline” is the first data point on the “baseline threshold” series. If there is no such series, it is the first data point on the “actual” series.
- “Actual” is the last data point on the “actual” series
- “Goal” is the last data point on the “threshold” series
A goal gauge will be added to the Chart to show how close to your goal you’re getting.
Add a Goal to a line or bar Chart
Open the Chart with which you want to work, then:
- Click
in the top right corner of the page.
- Click
in the resulting drop-down menu.
In the resulting window:
- Be sure the series you will use to calculate the goal has a comparison threshold series entered in the “Target Threshold” field.
NOTE: If you don’t see any options on this drop-down menu, you don’t have a threshold series that is tied to the “actual” series. Edit the “actual” series and add the threshold series you want to compare against to the “Target Threshold” field. - Click

- In the resulting window, add the series that should be considered the “actual” value (to be compared against the threshold) in the “Goal Series” field.

Be sure to click in the main “Edit Chart” window to keep your changes.
Add a Widget Card to a Board
You can add a Widget Card showing the goal gauge for any of your Charts. This Card can show up to 25 gauges arranged 5x5.
NOTE: If you add a Chart to this Widget Card that doesn’t have a goal calculated, it will be shown as an empty gauge at 0%.
Click the goal gauge to open that Chart.
Who can add a Widget Card to a Board?
- The Board's Owner
- The Board's Editors
- Anyone with the "Board Administrator" permission, in which the Board is located in their specified Location(s).
How do I add a Widget Card to a Board?
Open the Board with which you want to work, then:
- Click
in the top right corner of the Board.
- In the resulting drop-down menu, click
.
In the resulting window:
- Enter the Card’s title in the “Card Name” field.
- Enter the number of rows and columns in the corresponding fields.
NOTE: The maximum value of both those fields is “5.” - Click
in the top right corner of the “Widgets” section.
- In the resulting window:
- Enter the widget’s name in the “Title” field. This is the name that will be displayed over the corresponding goal gauge.
- Select “Chart Goal” from the “Type” drop-down menu.
- Choose the Chart that's goal gauge you want to display in the “Chart” field.
- Click

and the Widget Card will be added to your Board.
