Name someone else an Incident's Assigner

There are many reasons you might want to have another user listed as the Assigner. For example:

  • If you’ve been given the task of assigning Incidents within your Network Location, but you aren’t the only leader in that Location and would rather have one of the others take on the responsibilities of the Assigner.

  • If you’re responsible for assigning a bunch of Incidents, but you’re not the person who needs to approve their final Resolutions.

  • If you’re helping your leader manage their Incidents, so they should be named the Assigner on the Incidents you’ve been tasked with distributing.

How do I do make someone else the Assigner?

NOTE: To assign an Incident, you must have the "Assign" permission for Incidents in that Location. To edit the Assigner, you must have either the "Assign" or "Edit" permission for Incidents in that Location.

If you're assigning a "New" or "Planned" Incident and want to make someone other than yourself the Assigner, open the Incident, then:

  • Click the status indicator.

  • Click 2017-10-06_1558.png in the resulting drop-down menu.

In the resulting window:

  • Assign the Incident as you normally would by entering the name of the person who should be made responsible for it in the "Responsible" field and the date by which it should be completed in the "Due Date" field.

  • Enter the name of the person you want to be the Assigner in the "Assigned By" field.

  • Make any other necessary changes to the team or to any fields or Attributes presented - which options are available depends on your organization's configuration for Incidents of this type.

If you're changing the Assigner on an already assigned Incident, open the Incident, then:

  • Click 2018-03-29_1711.png in the top right corner of the "Team" section.

  • In the resulting window, locate the "Assigned By" field. If you don't see this field, you do not have permission to assign this Incident. In that field, you can:

    • Open the drop-down menu to reveal a list of up to ten users including yourself and your most frequent selections.

    • Begin typing someone's name in that field to search for them among all users (not just those top choices).

In the resulting drop-down menu, select the correct user.
