With the right permissions, you can quickly edit several Tasks nested under a Project at once.
You can:
- Edit the Tasks’ due date
- Change the Responsible Person
- Plan them
- Complete them
- Defer them
Who can bulk edit a list of nested Tasks?
- The Project's Facilitators
- The Project's Leaders
- The Project's Sponsors
- Anyone with the "Project Administrator" permission
How do I bulk edit a list of nested Tasks?
Navigate to the parent Project, then:
- Open the “Tasks” tab or scroll down to the “Tasks” section on the main tab. Make sure the "Tasks" section is in either the List View or the Detail View.
- Check the box to the right of every Task you want to edit.
- Click
- once you select at least one Task, this button will appear in the top right corner of the Tasks area.
In the resulting drop-down menu, click:
- Change the due date of all of the selected Tasks.
In the resulting window, enter the new due date.
NOTE: Tasks that do not already have a due date set will not be affected by this change.- Assign or reassign all selected Tasks.
In the resulting window:
- Enter the name of the person to whom you want to assign these Tasks in the “Assign To” field.
- Choose whether to assign the Tasks or send a request to assign them.
The general rule is that you can assign a Task to anyone to whom you can assign an Improvement. That person will be notified that you have assigned them a Task.
You can request the help of anyone in your organization. That person will be notified that you have requested their help and will be prompted to accept or decline your request. If they decline, they will have to give a reason why.
- Enter the name of the person to whom you want to assign these Tasks in the “Assign To” field.
- Move the selected Tasks into the planned status.
In the resulting window, you can enter the following optional information:
- A reason for planning the Task
- A start date and a due date
- Assign the Task.
NOTE: If you enter the start date and due date, you must also assign the Task. - If you assign the Task, you can also change the Assigner.

- Move the selected Tasks into the completed status.
In the resulting window, you have the option of entering a comment.- Move the selected Tasks into the deferred status.
In the resulting window, you have the option of entering a reason for deferring the Task.
