Share an Item

How can I share an Item?

You can share any Item you have access to. There are 3 ways to share an Item: 

  1. Copy a direct link to an Item
    • This works best for promoting collaboration on the Item. For example, you want someone to give your Item a quick review so you message them a link to your Item, or you can paste a link to the Item in a comment on a different Item.
  2. Share an Item using the Actions menu and select who should be notified of that Item
  3. Share an Item when resolving it

How do I copy a link to an Item?

Open the Item you want to share, then:

  • Hover over the Item’s ID Number in the top left until the Copy Link Copy Link icon appears.
  • Click the Copy Link Copy Link icon to copy a link to the Item to your clipboard.

  • After clicking the Copy Link Copy Link icon, a success message will pop up that says "Link copied to clipboard."

  • Share the link to your Item by pasting the Item link in a comment, email, or other messaging service.

How do I share an Item from the Actions menu?

Open the Item with which you want to send a notification, then:

  • Click the Actions button in the top right corner of the Item's page.
  • In the resulting drop-down menu, select Share.
  • In the resulting window:
    • Leave a comment in the “Comment” text box.
    • Under the People section, the Team of the Item will be notified by default, unless you uncheck the box next to "Team".
    • Select between “Digest” or “Email Now” in the drop-down to the right to determine the type of notification you want to send.
    • In the drop-down below, search and add any other KaiNexus Users you want to send a notification to.
    • Under the Locations section, search and add any Network Locations to notify all of the Users within that Network Location.
    • In the bottom right corner, click the “Copy Link” to copy a link to the Item to your clipboard.
  • When you’re done, click Share.

Two Line OfieNOTE: If the Item is private, only people with permission to access the Item will receive your notification.

How do I share an Item as I am resolving it?

Open the Item with which you want to resolve, then:

  • Click on the status picker in the top left.
  • Select Resolve.

OR

  • Click the Complete button within the 'Dates' panel next to the Item's Due Date.
  • In the resulting window, fill out the following questions and fields configured on your template for completion. Check out this page more information on resolving an Item.
  • Click Complete.
  • In the resulting window, select who you'd like to notify or share that you're completing the Item.
    • Under the People section, the Team of the Item will be notified by default, unless you uncheck the box next to "Team".
    • In the drop-down to the right, choose between "Digest" or "Email Now" to determine what type of notification you want to send.
    • In the drop-down below, click and either select the Users you want to notify or type in their name to pull them up on the list.
    • Under the Locations section, search and add any Network Locations to notify all of the Users within that Network Location.
  • When you're done, click Complete.
