KaiNexus automatically alerts you about Items that need your attention for a variety of reasons, letting you know right away what needs to be addressed when you log into KaiNexus.
Flagged Items and pertinent information will appear in the “Notifications” Window.
How do I access the “Notifications” Window?
To view your notifications and updates, click the at the top of the screen to the right of the search bar. The number of unread notifications you have will be displayed within the red badge in the bottom right corner of this icon; if there’s no number shown, you have no unread notifications.
Once you click into the Notifications Window, the current number of unread notifications you have is displayed at the top of the “Notifications” Window within the parenthesis next to “Notifications”. Along the left-hand side of the window within each notification, there is an icon dictating the type of notification you are receiving. These are:
- : These are notifications you received due to your association with the Item (You are on the Team of this Item).
- : These are notifications you received due to a notification preference that was either configured by you as a customized opt-in notification or is a give to you based on a notification preference on one of your Roles.
- : These are notifications you received due to updates that were made since the last time you viewed a specific Item.
Working within the Notifications Window
Once in the Notifications Window, you have a list of your notifications that require your attention and can be addressed in several different ways.
As you scroll through your list of notifications, you can hover over and highlight each notification. Clicking on a notification will take you to the Item associated with this particular notification.
PRO-TIP: If you right click on your notification, you will get a sub-menu of options where you can open the Item associated with this notification in a separate tab on your browser or you can copy a direct link to the Item associated with this notification.
PRO-TIP: You can also copy a direct link to the Item associated with this notification by hovering over the Item’s ID #, similar to how you are able to when working within the Work Panel of an Item.
PRO-TIP: If an Item is nested within a Parent Item, you can click on the name of the Parent Item underneath the Title of the Item to be taken directly into the Work Panel of the Parent Item.
In the bottom left corner of the Notifications Window, if you have a large number of notifications, you can click the to navigate to the next page and view the list of additional notifications.
How do I reorder the list of notifications?
In the bottom left corner of the Notifications Window, click the to flip the order of your notifications within this window. By default, the Notifications Window displays your newest notifications first.
How do I mark a notification as “read”?
The number of notifications displayed at the top of the Notifications Window within the parenthesis shows the number of unread notifications. If you wish to clear out your notification count, but would still like to refer back to the Item within a particular notification at a later time, you can do so by marking the notification as “read”.
For every new notification, you will see a along the right-hand side of the Notifications Window. This signifies that this is an unread notification. If you hover over and click the along the right, you will mark the notification as read. Doing this will subtract that notification from your notification count shown at the top without removing it from the Notifications Window. This will allow you to know you have addressed this notification, but still be able to refer to the specific Item later if you need to.
In the bottom right corner of the Notifications Window, selecting the option will automatically mark every unread notification as read while keeping them within this window.
How do I mark a notification as “unread”?
Maybe you wish to keep a notification as “unread”, so you know to click back into your Notifications window to re-address the notification at another time.
If you have a notification that has been marked as “read”, then if you hover over the notification along the right-hand side you will see a where the once was. Clicking the will mark this specific notification as “unread” and will add that notification back to your notification count shown at the top of the Notifications Window.
NOTE: This number will be displayed as a red badge on the within KaiNexus.
How do I remove a notification from the Notifications Window?
If you wish to remove a notification from the Notifications Window altogether, you can do so by hovering over the desired notification, and along the right-hand side click the .
NOTE: This will subtract the notification from the notification count shown at the top and remove it from the Notifications Window entirely, therefore, not allowing you to access it later.
PRO-TIP: If you removed a notification by accident, there will be a pop-up that appears to the right of your Notifications Window which will give you the option to undo that action and thus will bring that notification back into the window.
If you wish to remove all of your notifications from the Notifications Window at once, in the bottom right corner of the window, you can click the option.
In the resulting window:
- Checking the box next to “Also, clear all flags.” will remove all notifications that have on them as well.
- When you’re ready, click .
NOTE: This action cannot be undone.
How can I quickly view my notification preferences from the Notifications Window?
You can manage your notifications preferences from directly within Notifications Window. Near the bottom left corner of the window, click the .
In the resulting window, you can add new or update any existing notifications you would like to receive within KaiNexus. You can manage both your in-app and email notifications within this window. Check out this support page for more information on how to customize your Notification Preferences.
How can I see more information about the Items associated with my notifications?
By default, the Notifications Window displays a condensed version of each Item related to its respective notification. However, if you wish to quickly and easily view more information about the Items associated with each notification, you can do so by expanding your Notifications Window.
By clicking the near the top right corner of the Notifications Window, this will not only expand your Notifications Window to take up your entire screen, but it will also display the list of Items associated with your notifications in a view similar to the Detail View of an Item List.
From this view, you can view your list of notifications along the left-hand side, while viewing the Work Panel of the Item associated with a notification along the right side. This gives you the opportunity to view all details within the Item itself and quickly make any changes you may need to or more clearly visualize any updates that were made to this Item. This view also lets you quickly hop between Items and make better use of working out of your Notifications Window.
You can still do all the actions described above within this expanded window. Clicking the will collapse the list of notifications so that the current selected Item’s Work Panel will be displayed across the entire screen.
