If you want to set a Chart to activate sometime in the future, you'll want to plan it so that it can be worked on at a later date.
Who can plan a Chart?
- Any of the Authors
- Anyone with the "Chart - Edit" permission, if the Chart is in their specified Network Location(s).
What happens when I plan a Chart?
- It will enter the
status.
- Depending on what you select for your "Start On" criteria, a specified Due Date may be set or an Anticipated Start and/or Anticipated Due Dates may be applied based on your Dependencies.
How do I plan a Chart?
When planning a Chart, you have several options when selecting the "Start On" criteria. You can:
- Decide Later
- Select a Specific Date
- Set Dependencies
Open the Chart you want to plan, then:
- Click the status picker in the top left of the Chart.
- Click
in the resulting drop-down menu.
In the resulting window, you can specify your "Start On" criteria. Select between:
- Decide Later - Select this option if you don’t want to enter the start date at this time. You can update the Chart with a Start Date later, or manually activate it when the time comes.
- (**Optional**) You can enter in a date for the Chart to be completed by in the "Due Date" field.
NOTE: If the Due Date passes the Chart will automatically transition into the status.
- When you're ready, click

- Specific Date - Select this option if you already know when the Chart should begin and who should be involved.
- You will be required to enter a date for the Chart to begin in the "Start Date" field.
NOTE: If you select today as the Start Date, the Chart will automatically transition into the status. Otherwise, the Chart will automatically transition into the
status upon reaching the Start Date.
- (**Optional**) You can enter in a date for the Chart to be completed by in the "Due Date" field.
NOTE: If the Due Date passes the Chart will automatically transition into the status.
- When you're ready, click

- Dependent On - Select this option if you want the Chart to be activated automatically upon another Item's Start or Completion.
- If you want the Chart to activate based on the Start Date of another Item, select “Start Of.”
- If you want the Chart to activate based on the Completed Date of another Item, select “Completion Of.”
- Select the Item(s) in which the Chart should be dependent on within the “Choose the item(s) this is dependent on…” field.
- If you want the Chart to activate a certain number of days before the specified "Start Of" or "Completion Of" of the selected Item(s), enter that number in the “# of Days” field and select “Before.”
- If you want the Chart to activate a certain number of days after the specified "Start Of" or "Completion Of" of the selected Item(s), enter that number in the “# of Days” field and select “After.”
- If you want the Chart to activate immediately upon the specified "Start Of" or "Completion Of" of the selected Item(s), just set the “# of Days” field to 0.
- To have the Chart's Due Date be automatically calculated and set, enter the number of days it should take to be completed in the “Days to Complete” field.
NOTE: Planning a Chart with this option will automatically calculate the Anticipated Start Date and Anticipated Due Date for the Chart until the Chart is activated.

You can see a list of every Item the Chart is depending on, as well as a list of every Item that depends on the Chart itself, on this Chart’s detail view.
NOTE: Reopening one of the Items the Chart depends on after it has been activated will NOT revert this Chart back into the Planned status.
