Incident attachments

STOP: Is the Incident module active for your organization?

How do I download an attachment from an Incident?

Click the attachment's name in the Incident's "Files" section.

If the attachment is an image, this will open a preview of the image rather than downloading it directly. Click Untitled.png in the top right corner of the preview to download the image.

NOTE: Hover over the attachment's name in the "Files" section to see its upload date and description (if one was added).

Who can add, edit, or delete an Incident’s attachment(s)?

Any KaiNexus user who has the permission to edit the Incident can attach, edit, or delete files from it. This includes:

  • The Author

  • The Assigner

  • The Responsible Person

  • Any Collaborators

  • Anyone with the "Assign" permission for Incidents in that Location

  • Anyone with the "Edit" permission for Incidents in that Location

  • If the Incident is nested under a Project, the Project's Facilitators, Leaders, and/or Sponsors. If the Incident is nested under a Chart, the Chart's Authors.

How do I attach a file to an existing Incident?

Open the Incident with which you want to work. Then:

  • Click Add_file.png in the "Files" section.

  • Select the correct file from your computer.

OR

  • Drag and drop the file into the "Files" section.

How do I attach a file to an Incident I'm creating?

Drag the file you want to attach onto the "Create" screen or click 2017-03-06_1135.png in the bottom right corner of that screen, then choose the file you want to attach from your computer.

The "Images" section

When you attach an image file to an Incident, it will automatically be displayed in its "Images" section - though you can edit the file so that it is not displayed there. Attachments displayed in the "Images" section will still be listed in the "Files" section near the bottom right corner of the page.

Once the first image file has been uploaded to the Incident, the “Images” tab will be added and the “Images” section will appear on the main tab.

To configure whether the image should be shown in the "Images" section, open the Incident with which you want to work, then:

  • Click 2017-10-03_1414.png in the top right corner of the “Files” section, then

  • Click 2017-10-03_1415.png to the right of the file's name.

In the resulting window, check or uncheck “Show in Image area.”

If this box is unchecked, the image’s name will only be listed in the “Files” area. If this box is checked, the image itself will be displayed in the “Images” section and the file name will be listed in the “Files” area.

If the image is to be displayed in the "Images" section:

  • Choose where in the "Images" section this image will be displayed.

    • Pick "Default" to display the image in the next available position.

    • Pick "Force left" to display the image in the left column.

    • Pick "Force right" to display the image in the right column.

  • Click 2018-04-18_1333.png.

How do I edit an existing attachment?

Open the attachment's "Edit" window as described above. From there:

  • Edit the name of the file in the “File Name” field.

NOTE: Changing the file extension could prevent functionality such as previewing images.

  • Add or edit the file's description.

This will be displayed whenever you hover over the file's name in the "Files" section.

If the attachment is an image displayed in the “Images” area, the description will be displayed under the image in place of the file name.

  • Check or uncheck “Show in Image area.”

If this box is unchecked, only the image’s name will be listed in the “Files” section. If this box is checked, the image itself will be displayed in the “Images” section in addition to the file name being listed in the “Files” section.

  • If the image is to be displayed in the "Images" section, choose where in that section this image will be displayed.

    • Pick "Default" to display the image in the next available position.

    • Pick "Force left" to display the image in the left column.

    • Pick "Force right" to display the image in the right column.

  • Click 2018-04-18_1333.png.
