Add a Link to your Items

How do I add a link on an Item that I’m creating?

Click LinkButton.png in the bottom right corner of that screen, then enter in the title and URL in the corresponding fields of the resulting window.

How do I add a link to an existing Item?

Open the Item to which you want to add a link, then:

  • Click 2017-10-06_1619.png in the top right corner of the page.

  • In the resulting drop-down menu, click Link.png.

In the resulting window:

  • To add an external link, make sure the “Web Link” tab is selected. Then:

    • Enter the title of your link in the “Name” field.

    • Enter the URL of your link in the “Address” field.

  • To add an internal link to an Item within KaiNexus, make sure the “Item” tab is selected, then:

    • Search for the Item to which you wish to add a link in the “Item” drop-down. You can search by title or Item ID number.

    • Determine how the Item you are linking relates to the original Item you are currently viewing by selecting a value in the “Relationship” drop-down. You can select either “Relates to”, “Resulted in”, and “Originated from”.

NOTE: When using the Copy and Convert feature on an Item, the original Item will automatically be added as a linked Item within the Links panel of the new Item with a predefined “Originated from” relationship.

On the flip side, when going back to the original Item, you will now see a “Resulted in” relationship with a Link to the new Item.

  • When you’re finished, click Save.png.

PRO-TIP: You can also add a Link to an existing Item by clicking the Add_Link.png button within the Links panel.

How do I edit an existing link?

NOTE: A Link marked with an asterisk (*) signifies that the linked Chart has an Annotation referencing this item. This type of link cannot be edited.

To edit a Link:

  • Within the Links panel on an Item, click theEdit.pngin the top right.

  • ClickEdit.png next to the link you wish to edit.

In the resulting window:

  • For external links, you can:

    • Edit the title of the link in the “Name” field.

    • Edit the URL of the link in the “Address” field.

  • For internal linked Items, you can:

    • Edit which Item you wish to link to the current Item within the “Item” drop-down.

    • Edit the how the linked Item relates to the current Item within the “Relationship” drop-down.

  • When you’re finished, click Save.png.
     

 

How do I delete an existing link?

NOTE: A Link marked with an asterisk (*) signifies that the linked Chart has an Annotation referencing this item. This type of link cannot be deleted.

To delete a Link:

  • ClickEdit.png at the top of the Links section.

  • Click X-Delete.png to the right of the link you want to delete.

  • In the resulting window, click 2018-03-27_0441.png. NOTE: This action cannot be undone.

 

How do I open a link on an item?


Open the item with which you want to work, then find the link in the Links section and click its name. The website will open in your default browser.
