Add images and Chart thumbnails to text areas

Include visual information in text areas by adding images or thumbnails of relevant Charts.

When creating or editing an Item in KaiNexus, you can add an image or Chart thumbnail to any text area — the large text fields that include an HTML toolbar. This allows key visuals to be included in the text areas themselves, rather than being relegated to the Links or Files panels.

If someone viewing the Item clicks the image, it will expand to its full size. The viewer can then click the download button to save a copy of the image.

Clicking a Chart thumbnail will take the viewer to that Chart so they can take a closer look.

Add an image to a text area

When creating a new Item

• Click inside the text area with which you want to work and the HTML toolbar will appear.
• Click the Insert Image icon.

• In the resulting pop-up:
  • If you want to upload an image from your computer, make sure you're on the Upload Image tab, then:
    
    • Either drag the file you want to import onto the window or click the window and choose the correct file from your computer.
  • If you want to include an image from the web, click the By URL tab, then:
    • Enter the URL of the image in the URL field.
    • Click Insert.
• The image will appear in the text area. Click the image to replace it, change its alignment, insert a caption, link, or alternative text,  resize it, or delete it.

When editing an existing Item

• Click inside the text area with which you want to work and the HTML toolbar will appear.
• To add an image that has not yet been attached to this Item, click the Insert Image icon and upload the image or provide the link to it as described above.
• To add an image that has already been attached to this Item, click the More Rich icon and a secondary toolbar will appear beneath it.

• • Click the Insert Existing File icon and a drop-down listing all the files that have been attached to this Item will appear.

  • Select the image file you want to add and it will appear in the text area.
• Click the image to replace it, change its alignment, insert a caption, link, or alternative text,  resize it, or delete it.

Add a Chart thumbnail to a text area

• Click inside the text area with which you want to work and the HTML toolbar will appear.
• Click the More Rich icon and a secondary toolbar will appear beneath it.

• Click the Insert Chart icon.

• • In the resulting window, use the Choose Existing field to search for and select the Charts you want to add to this text area.
  • Click Add and the selected Chart(s) will appear in the text area.
• Click the thumbnail to change its alignment, insert a caption, link, or alternative text,  resize it, or delete it.
