Add default print settings to a Template

Help users easily export Items by configuring a Template's default print settings.

When you export an Item to PDF, there are several customizable settings, such as page size, scale, and which tabs and panels are included in the export.

If there is a standardized way you'd like all users to export an Item of a specific Template type, then you can add default print settings to a Template. This allows any user viewing an Item of that Template type to print the Item using the default settings.

When a Template has default print settings, users can easily export an Item without customizing the print settings.

Who can add default print settings to a Template?

Only users with the "Quality Administrator" permission in their System Role can add default print settings to a Template.

How to add default print settings to a Template

To add default print settings to a Template:

  • Navigate to any Item of a Template type for which you want to add default print settings. Configuring default print settings on one Item affects all Items of that Template type.
  • Select Actions
  • Hover over Export, and an additional menu will appear.
  • Select Default Print Settings
  • In the Default Print Settings window, configure your preferred settings. Refer to the instructions in the Print/Save an Item as a PDF support article to learn how.
  • Select Save

Users printing an Item of this Template type will now have the choice to use the default settings. However, they can still customize their print settings as needed.
