Release Highlights
Major upgrades to the KaiNexus mobile app
We've made significant improvements to the KaiNexus Mobile App, including the addition of Boards and Item Lists, bringing it closer to the functionality of the desktop version. These upgrades allow you to manage your improvement work efficiently, no matter where you are. If you haven’t downloaded the mobile app, now is the perfect opportunity to experience these new capabilities.
Monthly Report Summary Email (BETA)
We’re excited to introduce the Monthly Report Summary Email, which is currently in BETA. This feature lets you send monthly emails summarizing key performance metrics to stakeholders. While this feature is still in development, you can already use it to share valuable insights into engagement, activity, and impact metrics, highlighting the positive outcomes of your improvement efforts.
Field Syncing is now available on Templates
You can now use Field Syncing to automate the process of matching Field values between parent and child Items. This feature ensures that when you edit a Field on a parent Item, it can update the child or vice versa, streamlining your workflow and reducing the number of clicks needed to distribute information.
All Enhancements
- We’re excited to introduce the Monthly Report Summary Email, which is currently in BETA. This feature lets you send monthly emails summarizing key performance metrics to stakeholders. While this feature is still in development, you can already use it to share valuable insights into engagement, activity, and impact metrics, highlighting the positive outcomes of your improvement efforts.
Fields
- Field Syncing allows automatic value syncing between parent and child Items when the same Field is used on both. The parent can inherit values from the child, the child can inherit from the parent, or the sync can occur in both directions, streamlining your project management workflow by reducing manual inputs.
Lists
- The new Resolution Summary column lets you quickly view Resolution information for each Item in a List without opening them individually. This overview replaces the need for multiple columns, offering a clear, streamlined view of Impact data.
- When you hover over a List in the Items section drop-down, you’ll now see an ellipse icon. Selecting it gives you the same options as right-clicking—edit, pin or unpin, and delete—making it clear that actions are available without needing to open the List.
- Deadline Dates will no longer be included for Approved Milestones when displayed in a List column, streamlining visualization and ensuring only relevant information appears.
Items
- The Assign screen has been redesigned for simplicity, placing the most important fields front and center while moving advanced options to an 'Additional' section. This update streamlines the process, allowing you to assign Items quickly without extra steps.
- When your parent Item contains nested Simple Team Items without Resolution, you can now complete all of them directly from the Resolution and Complete screen when closing out the parent Item. Previously, this feature was only available when sending notifications after the parent’s completion.
- We reduced the risk of accidentally overriding another user’s updates while you are both editing different parts of the same Item.
- You can now configure Templates so that Panels and Tabs can appear or disappear based on selections of Attributes on the Item, focusing user attention on the most relevant information, reducing clutter, and streamlining process flow.
Mobile
- Boards are now available in the KaiNexus Mobile App, helping you accomplish your goals and manage workflows from the ease of your mobile device. All Boards you have access to are searchable, and Boards specifically configured for the mobile app will be available in the app’s Boards section. Each Card on a Board will be included, and you can even expand them to full screen for better visibility.
- You can now view Item Lists in the mobile app, offering functionality similar to the desktop version. This includes changing the List’s View Type (excluding Calendar View), pinning or unpinning Lists, and sharing Lists with others. Additionally, you can search Item Lists to find exactly what you need.
- The mobile app’s notifications bell will now show an indication when you have unread alerts, helping you maintain a habit of staying up-to-date.
- You can now view your User Profile in the mobile app, including your recent activity and earned Badges.
- The mobile app’s navigation bar has been redesigned to include a section for Boards and Item Lists.
- You can now resolve Items as you create them in the Mobile App. Contact your Customer Success Manager to enable this feature on a Template.
- In addition to searching for Items, you can now use the mobile app to search for Boards and access your recently viewed Boards.
- We've added the ability to search for similar Items while submitting one or directly on the Item itself—a feature that was previously only available on desktop.
- We’ve introduced more interactivity with Items in the mobile app, including the ability to copy, convert, add nested Items, add links, add Standard Work, and add Weighted Scores.
- If you have the Branding Module, your chosen navigation color will now be used in the mobile app to show which section you are viewing.
- We enhanced navigation in the mobile app with improved hyperlink functionality.
Reports
- You can now track Investment data in “Impact by” Reports, including ROI data and the ability to easily filter which Investments are shown. Incorporating Investment metrics into these Reports will enhance your insights, providing a more comprehensive understanding of your initiatives’ performance.
- We’ve improved your Investment reporting options by renaming the Financial Investment Category to “Cost” and adding two new columns to the “Impact by” Reports: a Cost Investment column and a Total Financial Investment column, which aggregates all Investment categories. These extra options will help you curate Reports that show the most impactful data for your organization.
- When selecting a data point in an “Impact by” Report, the Amount Type for each Impact will now be displayed by default, giving you clearer insights.
- You can now edit which columns are visible on Cycle Time by Milestone Report Cards.
API
- More Milestone information is now available through JSON Item API calls. Exports now include details such as a Milestone’s Ready Date, Approval Date, Deadline Dates, and the Approver user information.
Bulk Change
- We’re expanding Bulk Change capabilities in the Admin section, allowing you to bulk update Network Locations and Attribute Values. This enhancement will save you time and effort when making widespread changes.
Widgets
- Setting Thresholds on a Goal Widget will now change the gauge color, making it even easier to visualize when you are above or below your targets.
Login Notice
- Adding images and video files to Login Notices just got easier. Instead of hosting files elsewhere and using links, you can now directly add the files to the Login Notice in KaiNexus.
Charts
- Chart Thumbnail columns on Item Lists now respect a Template’s standardized measure width for Bowling Charts.
- You can now define a static width for data series columns on Bowling Charts at the Template level, giving you more control over the display.
Imports
- You can now use spreadsheets containing formulas for all Excel imports, including Chart imports. This will help you populate data dynamically before importing it to KaiNeuxs.
- We improved the performance of Item Imports.
Bug Fixes
- Impact Location options are now correctly restricted to Locations nested beneath the Responsible Location when this setting is applied.
- We fixed a bug that caused duplicate data entries when updating Charts with shared series using the Multi-Chart Importer.
- Your specified Team Member Name Format is now correctly applied when exporting Items with Custom Team Role to XLSX.
- Conditional Fields that are not currently displayed in an Item no longer appear on PDF exports when they contain default text.
- We fixed a bug causing certain Weighted Score Attributes to not populate their default values.
- Column settings for Item List Cards in Gantt View are now respected when the Card is expanded.
- A bug preventing certain Item Details from being visible in Kanban View until after the List is refreshed has been resolved.
- We fixed an issue causing Link Button Widgets to not appear on the Card when the URL exceeded a certain character limit. The limit has been increased, and we improved the validation.
- We fixed a bug that prevented tooltips listing nested Items from handling special characters correctly.
- Items that no longer exist in the system will no longer appear in Nested Item Status Bar columns.
Note for KaiNexus Champions: Data in the Alt, Alt-2, and Alt-3 sandboxes will not be refreshed this release.
